His Girlfriend Just Learned That He’s Not Really Rich Like She Thought, And Ever Since, She Hasn’t Been Acting Right

His sister doesn’t charge him rent, and he lives there completely free. The house is so nice that there’s no way anyone his age could really ever afford to buy it, and he certainly wouldn’t be able to live there without his sister’s generosity.

Another house his sister inherited sits on a lake, and he and his family spent a lot of time there. It was at that lake that he wound up meeting his girlfriend after he was introduced to her by some mutual friends that they have. His girlfriend never knew that the lake house belongs to his sister, and he has never felt like he was obligated to explain all of that to his girlfriend at all, let alone his sister’s financial situation.

When his girlfriend recently asked if she could use the lake house for a girl’s weekend, he informed her that it doesn’t really belong to his parents at all and that it belongs to his sister.

“After finding this out, she has asked more questions,” he said. “At one point she said something about selling “my” house and moving more downtown into the city.”

“She was pretty weirded out when I explained I don’t own this house. Then more questions. She was obviously under the impression that my parents and I are rich. She was also kind of annoyed that I didn’t inherit anything. I explained that they were not my grandparents and I only ever met them a couple of times and that they probably knew my awesome sister would hook me up.”

As soon as his girlfriend learned the truth about him not being really rich, she hasn’t been acting right. He thinks his girlfriend is treating him like she’s been let down, and he knows if he mentioned this to his loved ones, they would instantly label her as a gold digger.

“How can I figure out if she was attracted to the money I don’t have? I feel so defeated,” he concluded.
