He Told His Mom Off For Getting Jealous Over His Fiancée’s Birthday Gift Being A Trip To Paris And A Proposal
This man has been with his fiancée, Diane, for nearly a decade now. They met during their sophomore year of college and have stayed madly in love ever since. So now, he cannot wait to finally tie the knot.
However, for the majority of their relationship, his mother has despised Diane for absolutely no reason.
“My mother would harass Diane, call her the most disgusting names, and act like a teenage bully,” he recalled.
And his mother’s behavior got so bad that he even had to cut off communication with her for years.
Nonetheless, about two years ago, his mother randomly decided to finally apologize to Diane for treating her so poorly. And apparently, his mother wanted to “welcome Diane into the family.”
“It was rather unexpected, and my mom never explained herself– only apologized for her past actions,” he said.
Regardless, he and Diane decided to accept his mother’s apology in hopes of moving on once and for all. Still, though, his relationship with his mother was never quite the same after that.
He opted to still keep her at a distance because, apology or not, his mother had still caused him and Diane a lot of turmoil over the years.
Plus, as of this past week, it appears that he had made a good decision– because his mother is back to her old, bullying ways.

This particular issue stems back to his mother’s and Diane’s birthdays– which happen to fall on the same day. Go figure.
And while Diane really could not care less, his mother always acted like it was a massive deal. In fact, she even used to turn the day into a competition to see who got the better birthday gift.
Ever since her apology, though, his mother had been a bit more low-key with her birthday behavior. So, instead of being a full-fledged bully, his mother was more so passive-aggressive– which is still frustrating but a tiny win for him and Diane.
However, his mother apparently acted just like her old self again after their most recent birthday a few months ago.
Since he was unable to celebrate his mother’s birthday on the day of, he ended up treating her to a relaxing spa day and taking her to dinner at an upscale restaurant another day.
And for Diane, he had something extra special in mind. He had known for a long time that he wanted to marry her.
So, he planned a romantic week in Paris and proposed to her on their trip. And, of course, they had an amazing time and left the vacation feeling over the moon.
Afterward, though, his mother did not say anything about the proposal at all. This led him to believe she was either happy or just neutral about the whole thing.
But months have since passed, and just a few days ago, he received a furious call from his mother. She was crying, screaming names at him, and even calling him a terrible son. Then, she had the nerve to wish him a horrible marriage.
What prompted all of this, you might ask? Well, apparently, his mother felt “neglected” on her birthday since he took Diane to Paris on a romantic vacation while she only got his “scraps.”
And understandably, this ridiculous comment seriously upset him. So, he decided to tell his mother off once and for all.
“I told my mom that she should be grateful for her ‘scraps’ and to stop acting like a spoiled child,” he vented.
If you could not have guessed it, though, his mother did not appreciate his response. She just continued cursing him out even more before finally hanging up the phone.
And since telling Diane about the entire situation, he has actually gotten some unexpected pushback. Apparently, Diane believes that he should have handled the situation a bit more delicately in order to avoid stirring the pot even more.
Nonetheless, he has been sick and tired of his mother’s behavior. So, he has been left wondering if finally standing up for himself and his fiancée was the right thing to do.
If you were in his shoes, would you have told off your mother, too? Do you think Diane is right, or did his mother have it coming?
