Several months after she and her boyfriend spilt up, this boy asked her to go on a date with him and she said yes because he was a genuinely good guy.
“Out of the respect for my friend and our friendship, I wrote a text to her letting her know that we have started dating,” she said. “I told her that I know it’s been a couple of years, but I just wanted to be the one to let her know and that I hope she didn’t mind. She replied and told me that she didn’t and that she was happy for us.”
“It’s been a couple of years now, and the boy that my friend had a crush on and I are still going strong.”
She’s going to be celebrating her 6th anniversary with him shortly, but over the last several years, she’s been hearing some upsetting things from those close to her middle school best friend.
“Throughout the past couple of years, people that I know have come and told me that this friend of mine and her new friends have told them that I stole her boyfriend, betrayed her, and our friendship,” she continued. “I try not to think too much about it; I’ll let them know it’s not true and that there was probably just a misunderstanding.”
She can’t help but wonder if it was mean of her to end up dating him. Do you think she should have turned him down, knowing her best friend had a crush on him?
