These Dry Shampoos Were Just Recalled For Containing This Cancer-Causing Ingredient

Despite its harmfulness to humans, it is among the twenty most widely used chemicals in the United States. However, the use of benzene has been largely reduced in recent decades.

Unilever says that although the recalled products contain benzene, using them should not cause significant health issues. Still, the company has decided to recall these products just to be safe.

“Consumers should stop using the affected aerosol dry shampoo products and visit UnileverRecall.com for instructions on how to receive reimbursement for eligible products,” said the FDA.

After an investigation was conducted, it has been determined that the propellant was the source of the benzene.

Propellants are what help force the chemicals out of the can and make them appear as a fine mist. Unilever is currently working to resolve this issue.
