She Took Her Sister-In-Law In And Tried To Help Her Turn Her Life Around, But Now She Wants To Give Her Sister-In-Law A 60-Day Move-Out Notice After Finding Out That Her Sister-In-Law Has Been Lying To The Rest Of The Family
This thirty-three-year-old woman and her husband, who is thirty-five, have three children together– ages seven, four, and two.
On top of parenting the kids, though, they have also kind of been stuck parenting her sister-in-law, who is twenty-eight.
For context, her sister-in-law– who had never had one job before– has been living with her and her husband for six months now. And she only agreed to let her sister-in-law move in with them under a few conditions.
First of all, they require that her sister-in-law pays four hundred dollars per month in rent plus an additional fifty dollars a week for groceries. That comes out to a total of six hundred dollars monthly.
Second, she and her husband set her sister-in-law up with a budgeting software– to help her save money and get her finances in check.
Finally, the agreement was that she and her husband would allow her sister-in-law to stay with them until she was able to afford to rent an apartment with friends.
Now, that had been going okay, even though they did encounter a few obstacles over the past few months.
For instance, her sister-in-law was resistant to getting a job at first, and they also could not get her sister-in-law to help out around the house.
All of a sudden, though, her sister-in-law apparently went to them and claimed to be moving out last week.
The plan was that her sister-in-law was going to relocate a few states away to live with her father. And she and her husband had absolutely no issues with that.
The day right before her sister-in-law was supposed to move out, though, she learned that her father-in-law supposedly claimed her sister-in-law was no longer welcome at his house anymore.
So, she and her husband were ultimately asked if her sister-in-law could keep living with them, and she told her that was fine. This second time, though, she and her husband provided some new conditions.
More specifically, her sister-in-law needed to continue paying rent and working on a budget. On top of that, they also wanted her sister-in-law to get out of the house a few days a week, learn how to drive, and refrain from sleeping all day between work shifts.
After her sister-in-law called her mother-in-law to discuss this new plan, though, she was shocked to find out that her mother-in-law accused them of brainwashing!
Well, come this past Sunday night, she ended up receiving an apologetic call from her mother-in-law and was profusely apologized to– because apparently, her sister-in-law had been lying to her mother-in-law the entire time.
It all began about three weeks ago after her sister-in-law called her mother-in-law crying and claiming that she and her husband were being mean and manipulative.
“[She said] we were forcing her to walk to work every day even if she was staying until 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m.– her work is one mile away– and that we were talking all her money and not allowing her to eat out of our groceries,” she revealed.
So, it was actually her mother-in-law who ended up suggesting that her sister-in-law move out in the first place.
That’s when her father-in-law actually got involved, and he actually apparently never said her sister-in-law could not move in.
“He just told my sister-in-law she would need to help around the house, work, pay rent, and not sleep all day,” she said.
And it appears that her sister-in-law was not down with that– which is why her sister-in-law decided not to move out after all.
On top of that, her mother-in-law was also out of that loop and even more confused– mainly because why would her sister-in-law choose to stay with her and her husband if they really were making life so miserable?
Anyway, since finding out about all of these lies, she and her husband have been furious. They really hate drama and also do not want her relationship with her in-laws to continue to be tarnished.
So, after her sister-in-law moves out, she is planning on going no contact.
She also does not want her sister-in-law living with them anymore. However, her father-in-law and mother-in-law do not live nearby, and there is no other family that could take her sister-in-law in.
In turn, she has now been left wondering if giving her sister-in-law a sixty-day move-out notice would make her a jerk or if it is the most reasonable way to handle this situation.
Does it seem like her sister-in-law is acting like a teenager? Do you believe she and her husband gave her sister-in-law a good chance to turn her life around? Why do you think her sister-in-law kept lying about what she and her husband were doing? If you were in her shoes, would you also give a sixty-day move-out notice?
