While they waited around the ER, she got numerous messages from Polly, who was impatiently asking if the babysitters had responded, and they hadn’t.
When Trevor was finally seen by the doctor, they diagnosed him with the respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV. The poor kid had to be admitted to the hospital for a day because of his previous health conditions. She was terrified.
She called Polly to give her an update when she heard voices in the background on Polly’s end. At first, she thought Polly had taken up her offer and invited a few friends over to their house. But no, Polly told her she had dropped Cassie off at the new neighbor’s house and went to be with her friends.
“I was furious,” she recalled. “I told her to go home and get her sister. I then asked for the neighbor’s number, she didn’t even ask for it.”
She grounded Polly over the phone and had her pick up her sister from the neighbor’s house. Thankfully, although they were strangers, they were very nice and even apologized for being unable to call.
Her mother made the two-hour drive to watch Polly and Cassie while Trevor rested up before he returned home. Once everyone was home, she gave Polly a lecture about her actions and grounded her for two weeks. Polly says she is overreacting.
Do you think she’s overreacting, or does Polly deserve it?
