He Tried To Use His Late Wife’s Jewelry As A Bribe In Order To Convince His Daughter To Attend His New Fiancée’s Baby Shower

This 52-year-old man has a 29-year-old fiancée who is currently six months pregnant. So, in anticipation of the baby’s delivery, his fiancée has been planning a baby shower.

The event is supposed to take place in March, and the couple has invited all of their “nearest and dearest” friends and family members.

While planning the baby shower, though, his fiancée told him that she would love it if his 23-year-old daughter was in attendance.

Apparently, his soon-to-be wife wants his daughter to have a good relationship with the baby– who they found out will be another girl.

On top of that, his fiancée planned some games for the party that would reportedly work out better if his daughter was there.

But there is one massive problem with this plan– his daughter and his fiancée reportedly do not see eye-to-eye on anything.

First of all, he does not even really have a great relationship with his daughter. In fact, he claims that she is in very low contact with him– which means that his daughter does not even speak to his fiancée unless there is “an urgent need to do so.”

And according to him, this fallout was the result of a series of arguments that occurred over the last few years.

Still, he wanted to make his expectant fiancée happy. So, he ended up reaching out to his daughter and his daughter’s wife to see if they would consider going to the baby shower for his sake.

Unfortunately, though, his daughter straight-up just refused to go.

“She did this very rudely, I might add, and called my fiancée some unsavory names via text,” he said.

Plus, once his fiancée found out about this, she was really upset. He claims that his fiancée was “in tears for days”– especially because the thought of their baby having no relationship with his daughter made her feel sick. In fact, his fiancée was apparently lying on the couch and shaking for hours.

So, his fiancée even attempted to text his daughter– after he provided his daughter’s phone number– and repeatedly begged her to come. His daughter just was not interested, though, and ultimately blocked his fiancée.

Anyway, all of this apparently made him really worried about his soon-to-be wife, and he was dedicated to convincing his daughter to attend the baby shower. So, he decided to break out some extremely sentimental jewelry and use it as a bribe.

Apparently, the jewelry once belonged to his late wife– his daughter’s biological mother– who passed away several years ago. And he claims that his daughter had no clue he had any of his late wife’s jewelry.

“And it includes my daughter’s mother’s engagement ring, which I had told my daughter was lost,” he revealed.

So, he thought it would be a good idea to use the sentimental belongings as a bargaining chip. In other words, he texted his daughter and told her that if she agreed to attend the baby shower “without pulling any stunts or theatrics,” then he would hand over all the jewelry.

Understandably, though, his daughter’s wife did not take his proposition kindly. Instead, he got a call from his daughter-in-law, who accused him of “holding the jewelry hostage” and trying to bribe his daughter.

On top of that, his daughter-in-law pointed out how the jewelry should not be in his possession, given the way he “treated his dead wife’s memory.”

Then, he was asked if he would be willing to hand over the jewelry to his daughter regardless as “a gesture of goodwill.”

He refused to let that happen, though, and claimed that if his daughter did not show up and go along with the baby shower, then he would actually gift the jewelry and the engagement ring to his new fiancée!

“Who my dead wife would have loved,” he added.

Now, this seriously upset his daughter and his daughter’s wife– who both called him a selfish jerk and are still refusing to attend the party.

If you could not have guessed, though, his fiancée has taken his side and is claiming that he proposed a fair trade.

“And she is still beside herself with illness over the party,” he vented.

The rest of his family, though, does not agree with his shady attempt to bribe his daughter. Instead, they have reportedly been attacking him, and now, he is worried he might have permanently damaged his relationship with his daughter.

So, he has been left wondering whether using his late wife’s jewelry to bribe his daughter into attending his fiancée’s baby shower makes him a total jerk or not.

Can you believe he thought bribing his daughter was the way to go? How do you think his late wife would feel knowing what he is trying to do? Does his daughter have a right to be furious over this? If you were in his shoes, how would you handle this situation?
