Her Sister Is Getting Married This Week, And Has Demanded That She Take Off The Medical Devices That She Wears For Her Diabetes Because It Will Make The Photos Look Bad

Weddings are a beautiful experience and an opportunity to make wonderful memories. However, sometimes they can also bring out some intense family drama.
One woman is shaken up after her sister requested that she removes the diabetic medical equipment she wears on her body for her upcoming wedding.
Her sister is getting married this week, and she’s supposed to be a bridesmaid.
“I’m a Type 1 Diabetic, and I wear two medical devices,” she explained. “A Dexcom blood sugar monitor on one arm and an Omnipod insulin pump on the other.”
She describes the devices as small, and they need to be worn together to monitor her blood sugar levels and deliver her insulin.
They usually save her a lot of time and trouble, but in this situation, they’re surprisingly causing trouble.
The other day she was with her sister to try on the bridesmaid’s dresses. Her sister told her that she doesn’t want her to wear her monitor and pump on the day of the wedding.
The bridesmaid’s dresses are sleeveless, and her sister thinks the equipment will “look ugly in the photos.”
She told her sister she wasn’t okay with taking them off her arms.

“They’re essential medical equipment, and I’m not going to put myself in a position to affect my health just for some photos,” she said.
Then, her sister went to complain about the situation to their mom and friends, and they all sided with the bride. Her mom then suggested that she move the equipment to her stomach, but she’s previously tried that and says it feels uncomfortable. Plus, once her insulin pump is in place, it can’t be moved for 10 days. Why can’t this poor woman just wear a shawl?
Thankfully, some family members have shown her support and are sticking up for her. Her brother heard about this situation and supposedly went off on her mom and sister, telling them how horrible they made her feel. Then, her grandfather, who is paying for a portion of the wedding, heard about this squabble and threatened not to pay if they didn’t apologize. Go grandpa!
“Now, I do think this was a bit extreme; I wasn’t looking to cause this much trouble for my mom and sister,” she added.
“But it seems to have worked because they called me to apologize and say it was wrong of them to suggest I just go without my monitor and pump, and we can find a way to dress it up instead.”
How would you have reacted if you were in her shoes?
