I feel like if you can’t be nice, or at the very least behave, at someone’s wedding, you should do everyone a favor and not show up as a plus-one.

What would you do if a member of your wedding party’s spouse caused a scene at your wedding over the food? Would you ask them to leave, or just deal?

This 40-year-old woman recently got married to her 37-year-old wife after spending four years together. Their wedding party was small, with her wife having two bridesmaids, and her having two bridesmen; her friends Patrick and Chris.

She and her wife invited 50 guests, and their wedding venue was a cozy restaurant. The food there is incredible, and the place itself was affordable for them.

“However, Patrick’s wife decided to cause a scene at the wedding by expressing how the whole venue smelled like meat. She had spent the whole month prior telling us how she would need a vegan menu option at our buffet-style wedding,” she explained.

“Aside from salad, fruit, and veggies, we didn’t have a set ‘vegan option.’ So, we reached out to the event coordinator and requested a specific vegan dish to be served to her, which did cost extra.”

“We indicated where she was sitting, so when it came time to get food, the staff would know where to bring the single plate of food. Later on, a few guests came up to us and told us that Patrick’s wife wasn’t happy with the vegan dish she was served.”

She can’t say she was totally surprised by Patrick’s wife melting down, since this woman is terrible and she didn’t even want to invite her.

She questioned them about what Patrick’s wife was given, and it was a mushroom salad bowl that smelled and looked pretty amazing.

Apparently, Patrick’s wife said the whole restaurant smelled like meat, and that is why she refused to eat her own food. She made so many remarks to other guests and made everyone feel awkward.

She even told Patrick she was sick and sat there sulking at the table while shooting nasty looks at anyone who dared to walk past her.

The rest of the wedding guests were served chicken marsala, grilled chicken, potatoes, salad, bread, and vegetables. She also had a charcuterie table with jams, fruits, cheeses, and meats.

“We didn’t get any negative comments about the room’s smell. Instead, the guests (even our vegetarian friends) LOVED the food,” she continued.

“Although this was annoying, we kept enjoying the event until we summoned Patrick for pictures (in hindsight, probably shouldn’t have done pics after eating, in case of accidental spills, but everything was fine, lol).”

She went to round up Chris, Patrick, and the bridesmaids so they could have photos together at the wedding venue, but Patrick shook his head at her.

She walked over to Patrick to find out what the matter was, and his wife laced into her and said he was too busy to take any more photos.

She said sorry and promised Patrick would only be gone for a couple of minutes and suggested that she head outside to get a bit of fresh air, hoping it would help the situation.

“All she said to this was, ‘It’s hot outside.’ I just needed him for a few pictures. Instead, I only have one picture with me, my wife, and him, not the whole wedding party,” she said.

“It felt like she wanted to be the center of attention, and after the pictures, I asked Patrick if they would leave. I felt awful, but he wasn’t going to talk to his wife about her behavior.”

She’s left wondering if she was a jerk for kicking Patrick’s wife (and, consequently, Patrick) out of her wedding for causing so much drama.

Shame on Patrick’s wife for acting like this, and shame on Patrick, too, for not putting her in her place and making her behave for one night of her life that wasn’t supposed to be about her.

She didn’t do anything wrong, making Patrick’s wife leave after how atrocious she was. If it’s your wedding day, you have every right to remove guests who are causing problems.
