This Model Is Talking About A Few Shoots She Went On Where Other Models Were Pretty Mean To Her, And Here’s How She Dealt With The Rude Behavior

How glamorous does the modeling life look? Being in front of cameras and seeing your face on magazine covers might sound like all fun and games, but when you’re faced with the reality of the modeling life, it’s clear that your relationships with other models might not be so great.

Being a model can often resemble being in high school with the cliquey girls who gossip behind your back. This is the kind of life that TikToker Jessi, @jessi.lee, describes about her time as a model.

“It was amazing, but working with other models was not so much,” she said. “I don’t know what it is about that industry with people being so stuck up and rude.”

Her worst story, which very much resembles what many people went through in high school with the so-called ‘mean girls’, came after she went to a shoot where there were two other people who were supposed to model after her.

“I was modeling solo, and then there was like another couple that was there also modeling,” she explained. “I had already been there for, like, an hour when they showed up [and] they were supposed to be there at the same time as me, but they were late.”

She was hopeful that she could make friends with these new people who she’d never met before or at least just be pleasant with them as coworkers.

“When they got there, I was right in the middle of shooting, so I couldn’t really walk over and say ‘hi’ or introduce myself, but I did look over and smile at the girl,” she said. “So I pause, and I look over, and I smile at her, and she just looks back at me…and then kind of looks away.”

Essentially, Jessi was trying to be nice and friendly with this girl, and in turn, the girl gave her a sneering, disgusted look while looking her up and down.

“I was like, oh, okay! So we’re doing that whole catty thing where since we’re both modeling for the same company, we’re all of a sudden ‘competition’,” she said. “I swear, the whole time, both of them are just like glaring at me across the room…they like went over into the corner of the room and, like, sat down and started like whispering and glaring over at me.”

The entire time that they were all there modeling together, the other two cliquey people didn’t say a word to her. She decided to get back at them and make them even more annoyed with her.

“As they were walking out the door, I stopped what I was doing mid-shoot, and I was like, ‘bye you guys! It was so nice meeting you!’ even though we had never met,” she said. “They stopped what they were doing, and like looked back at me–looked at each other–and then just walked out.”

If that wasn’t awful enough, she had another experience with a different girl that was just as bad–if not worse.

“This girl literally hated me,” she said. “I don’t know why the situation angered me as much as it did.”

This time, it wasn’t a couple that was being nasty to her. She was confronted by just one girl who decided to pick on her for no reason.

“I went to this shoot, and there were like ten other models there like there were a lot of models at this shoot,” she said. “My attention was caught by this one girl who was definitely the quietest in the room.”

Now, there is no shame in someone who might just be shy and doesn’t feel comfortable talking to anyone else. However, that’s not what Jessi experienced with this girl.

“She was like looking up and down–all the girls, all the other models–giving all of us like this very judgmental look,” she said. “She was one of the girls in my group, so she was like sitting next to me. We were the next group that was supposed to shoot, so we were just like chillin’ there waiting.”

Especially with people that you don’t know, it’s hard to think of what could possibly go wrong when you’re all just hanging out together. Jessi certainly didn’t expect the comments that came from this girl.

“We were all told we had to, like, fill out these forms,” she said. “So me and these three girls are all like filling out forms, and then the girl that I’m talking about like stopped filling hers out like before it was our turn to shoot, even though we didn’t have anything to do…I notice she started watching me fill mine out, and then she randomly like looked up at me and she just goes, ‘You know we don’t have to keep filling those out, right?’ and then before I get a chance to respond, she just goes, ‘why are you doing that?'”

Not only is she ignoring directions that they were explicitly told to follow, but now she’s getting in the way of other people doing their job. Jessi tried to ignore her and just told her that she knew that they were supposed to be filling them out.

“She goes, ‘Yeah, but we’re going to be shooting in a second, so you really should stop filling that out’,” she explained. “I just went ‘okay!’ and then I kept filling it out ’cause that’s what we were supposed to do.”

Although she tried to ignore her and move on from the weird interaction, the girl made her day even more uncomfortable when she wouldn’t stop glaring at her–once again–while they were shooting.

“Any time I was shooting solo, I would see her in the corner just kind of like looking me up and down, like, ‘eww’,” she said. “The vibes were off. I don’t understand why girls have to be like that.”
