Even so, Soph’s solo trip has still been very empowering for her, and she’s proud of herself for doing it. Plus, being single has reminded her that being in a relationship has its boring parts, too.
On one of the nights during her holiday, Soph had gone to dinner alone, and she ended up sitting near a couple. She overheard their conversation, and it sounded so mundane.
It made her glad to be able to just enjoy her own company. For a long time, Soph felt inferior to couples and felt judged for being single.
She glamorized the idea of being in a relationship and put couples up on a pedestal, even though she didn’t know what their relationships were truly like.
Sometimes, you can become a better person after a breakup and get to know yourself a little better. So there are some advantages to being alone.
So if you’re recently single or have been single for a while, just know that it’s okay to feel lonely and crave the company of others. But it’s also okay to want to be by yourself. There’s nothing wrong with being single.
