The lack of empathy, understanding, or support from professors disappointed and surprised her. Unfortunately, she wasn’t the only one who had experienced treatment like this, and many people took to her TikTok comments to share similar stories.
“I had one teacher tell me I had to eat rice and beans,” one user shared.
“When I told my advisor that I had a part-time job to help pay, she said I might need to quit when I get to grad school. Do they think I worked for fun?” another person shared.
Along with comparing stories, some people in her comments gave her and others the empathy that they had been searching for from their professors and were confused by their actions.
What do you think about this student’s financial situation and her having to quit her master’s program in order to afford to live?
