Picking out the name of your child is arguably one of the most crucial decisions a mom or dad can make.

Everyone wants their child to have a name that is special and significant, and often, parents or partners can’t always agree on what exactly that name should be.

This is the exact situation this man has now found himself in, now that he and his wife are about to be parents.

This 30-year-old man has a 30-year-old wife named Anna, and prior to Anna knowing him, she was married to another man named Caleb.

Caleb and Anna were high school sweethearts who got married when they turned 20. Three years after tying the knot, Caleb sadly passed away after being hit by a drunk driver.

He and Anna have been married for two years and together for five years in total. Quite soon, they’re expecting their first child together, a little boy, so they quickly have to pick out a name for their son.

“However, she wants his middle name to be Caleb, after her late husband,” he explained. “I told her I am uncomfortable with this as she is married to me now, and we should not be naming our kid after a previous partner that she had.”

“She said that Caleb was a very large part of her life, and she isn’t going to budge with that middle name.”

“She said that since our son is going to have my last name, she should be able to choose the middle name. We have come to an impasse and cannot agree with this.”

Anna has been saying he’s completely insensitive, considering he is aware of how important Caleb still is to her to this day.

He’s left wondering if Anna is right and if he is a jerk for not wanting to allow her to name their son after her late husband.
