This woman’s older brother is 29-years-old and has two young daughters– who are 7 and 3-year- old.

Her brother has also gotten into a really frustrating habit of dropping off her nieces to be babysat without even reaching out to her first or asking if she’s available.

She’s tried to confront her brother about this on numerous occasions, too, and she told him that she doesn’t want to babysit his kids anymore.

“Yet he still continues to drop them off again before I have the chance to protest,” she said.

Just the other day, this situation finally came to a head, too. It all began one evening when she and her friends made plans to go out for the night. Then, right as she was literally walking out the door, her brother gave her a call.

At that point, she answered the phone and told him that she was going out. Plus, she wasn’t supposed to be home until pretty late at night.

Despite that, he actually just scoffed at her and replied, “Well, that’s too bad because I am on my way over with the kids, so you’ll just have to cancel your plans.”

Now, while she was taken aback by that, she didn’t hesitate to tell her brother that she would not be canceling her plans under any circumstances.

On top of that, she threatened to call the police and child protective services if he even tried to leave his children with her.

“Before he said anything else, I hung up and went on my way,” she recalled.

Her brother still kept blowing up her phone, leaving her multiple messages, and accusing her of “going too far.”

He also claimed that family members were supposed to help each other out. So, he was hurt that she reacted so harshly.

Regardless, she only replied once, telling her brother that she simply didn’t care.

“And if he ever does try to leave his kids with me again, I would still call the police and inform family services, and I am done being forced to babysit,” she added.

But, while it might have felt good to put her foot down in the moment, she couldn’t help but wonder if refusing to babysit anymore and threatening to call the authorities on him was really the wrong way to handle the situation.

Have you ever been forced into babysitting someone’s kids? Did she have a right to tell her brother off? How would you have reacted in her shoes?
