Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! No matter how you feel about the holiday, it’s a time to spread some love to those who mean the most to you. So why not get a little festive?

Deciding what to wear on Valentine’s Day, whether you’re going on a fancy date, out with your girlfriends, or staying in, can be a challenge.

When we were kids, most of us had it easy, and our moms would pick out cute little pink, red, and heart-covered outfits for us.

But now, it’s up to us to pick the perfect outfit for our Valentine’s Day plans. If you’re struggling with what you should wear this V-Day, here are some ideas for you!

For a night out with your partner

If you and your partner have opted to celebrate your love with a fancy night out, whether at a restaurant, nice bar, or event, you can never go wrong with a great dress.

If you’re going somewhere that’s more moody and chic, a great black or red cocktail dress with your favorite pair of heels and minimalist jewelry will look amazing.

If you’re going somewhere more casual, you could wear a more bohemian-looking dress. Floral patterns look great on Valentine’s Day, or a neutral-colored dress with some pink or red accessories is also a very cute choice.

Depending on where you’re going, see if you can incorporate some Valentine-themed accessories like a heart-shaped necklace or a red bow.

Going out with your friends

Some single people don’t like spending their Valentine’s Day alone, which is totally valid. It’s a great excuse to celebrate the love you have for your best friends or ‘Galentines!’

If you’re spending the evening out and about with your friends, going shopping, hitting up a bar, or grabbing some dinner, you could wear what you’d wear if you were going on a fancy date or get a little more casual.

A solid option for this kind of night is your favorite nice sweater and some black skinny jeans or trousers. By nice sweater, I mean the one that makes you feel more feminine and confident with its fabric, color, or neckline!

You can also wear your favorite ‘going out’ blouse with jeans and some cute boots. If you’ve got a pink or red top you haven’t worn in a while, now is the time to wear it!

A cozy night in

Whether you’re with your partner, some friends, or family or spending the night solo, you can still jazz up your favorite night-in outfit for Valentine’s Day.

If you have any sweatpants, sweatshirts, pajama sets, or robes that are pink, red, or heart-printed, throw them all on. Again, now is the time to get those colors out of your system!

Even if you have nothing pink or red, treat yourself by wearing your favorite, most luxurious pajama set or nighttime wear as a form of self-love this Valentine’s Day.

When all else fails, if you need a quick way to feel festive, throw on one of your more neutral everyday outfits and jazz it up with some love-related accessories. Put on some heart-shaped or pink and red jewelry, paint your nails a festive color, wear a festive headband, or even rock a great red lip.

Even if you’re not the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day, having fun with your holiday outfit will help make the day go by a bit easier. Enjoy!
