If you’re a parent with nieces and nephews, have you ever had to split up some drama between them and your children?

One woman had to do a lot to defend her daughter from school bullies and told off her niece after she tried to escalate the situation in front of their family.

She’s 44 and has a 17-year-old daughter named Sarah. Sarah had been having issues at school with some mean girls and, unfortunately, a mean teacher.

“The only teacher my daughter Sarah has ever had issue with is Miss Jane,” she said.

“From what I’ve heard of Miss Jane, she gives special treatment to the popular kids because she views herself as a popular kid and wants their approval. Miss Jane turns a blind eye to a lot of bad behavior from the more popular kids in her class.”

One of the girls Miss Jane would turn a blind eye to was Amber, a popular girl who would bully Sarah in her class. Miss Jane certainly witnessed Amber’s mean behavior and didn’t do anything about it.

Sarah couldn’t get her teacher to stop the bullying, so as her mom, she decided to go to the school’s administration and say something. Eventually, the administration stepped in, gave Amber detention, and had her seated further away from Sarah in Miss Jane’s class.

Then, things progressed with Miss Jane.

“After this incident, Sarah said that Miss Jane seemed to take it personally on Amber’s behalf and begun grading her assignments unfairly compared to the other students,” she explained.

“The last straw was the recent project where she gave a presentation that accounted for a good portion of her grade.”

When she realized how ridiculously Miss Jane was grading Sarah, she returned to the school administration to report it. It took a lot of back and forth with them to get Sarah’s grades back up to where they deserved to be and have her transferred out of Miss Jane’s class.

While she hoped that would be the end of the situation, her family became wrapped up in it, thanks to her 19-year-old niece, Chloe.

Chloe had heard about Sarah’s school situation and decided to misconstrue it as a big, dramatic story she told their other relatives about at a family gathering.

She overheard Chloe call her a ‘Karen’ for throwing a ‘tantrum’ at the school so she and Sarah could get their way. Once she heard Chloe exaggerating a story that caused Sarah a lot of stress, she knew she had to say something.

“I told her she [must be] bored or insecure about herself, and that’s why she needs to make up drama all the time, [and] I am done with it,” she recalled.

“I’ve bitten my tongue before, but I’ve wanted to say that to Chloe for a while now. Chloe apologized and was silent for the rest of the event.”

Her sister, May, who’s Chloe’s mom, later called her and told her she was wrong to speak to Chloe that way. She excused Chloe’s behavior as typical of a typical teenager and said there was no need to embarrass her.

Was she wrong to go off on Chloe like that, or was it understandable?
