Do you love the look of a fluffy, chic fur coat or jacket but don’t want to support the fur industry?

That’s something I think about every winter. However, these days, so many fabulous faux fur options can make you feel just as amazing without worrying about unnecessary animal cruelty.

Once you find a fabulous faux fur coat, the next thing you have to worry about is styling it and incorporating it into your everyday wardrobe. Wearing faux fur outside of a nice event and pairing it with more casual clothes can feel a bit weird, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll want to wear it all the time.

So, if you have a faux fur coat or jacket you’ve been meaning to wear more before it gets too warm or are interested in purchasing one, here are some styling tips.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when wearing a faux fur coat over an outfit is to let the coat be the star of the show, especially if it’s patterned or has a more elaborate print or color.

This is important as if you pile a faux fur coat on top of an already eye-catching, larger-than-life outfit, it could be overkill. So, I would recommend wearing some of your favorite neutral-colored clothes under your faux fur.

Don’t be afraid to select a black or white t-shirt to wear under your faux fur for a more casual look. Don’t listen to any old-fashioned style rules that tell you not to pair something as casual as a t-shirt with fur.

A neutral t-shirt with black trousers or even jeans and a faux fur coat is a very cool, casual look. You can finish it with your favorite white sneakers and a tiny chic bag, or even dress the outfit up more with some heels.

If you want to be extra formal and wear a dress underneath your faux fur coat, it’s a good idea to wear a dress that’s a bit more form-fitting and complements your body shape. Fur coats are extra poofy and fluffy, so they tend to slightly round out our shape.
