By the time Sherry Ann Milton of Alabama was 26 years old in 2005, she was an office manager for A&B Electric in Tuscaloosa and had a child with her ex-husband, Michael.

The pair had tied the knot in 1995 before welcoming their son, David, into the world. Then, according to Michael, he and Sherry went through an amicable divorce in 2003.

According to both Michael and her son, David, Sherry was a wonderful mom. She helped coach David’s baseball team, and he fondly remembers his mom taking him out with his friends.

“She was sweet. She did a lot for me,” he said.

So, when Sherry mysteriously disappeared on August 14, 2005, none of her loved ones believed she would just abandon her son.

That day, she went out with some friends to Birmingham. Then, while driving home in the early morning hours, Sherry and a friend stopped at an Exxon gas station in Ensley, Alabama, located off Exit 121 from Interstate 20/59.

Sherry’s friend reportedly told police that, after going inside to buy the matches, she walked back out, and both Sherry and Sherry’s vehicle were nowhere to be found.

But, according to witnesses at the gas station, Sherry and her friend had gotten into a heated argument. Then, Sherry’s friend reportedly refused to get back into the car and called her husband to pick her up.

Sherry then left the gas station alone in her car at 2:00 a.m. Afterward, she reportedly tried calling her boyfriend, David, 10 different times from 2:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. He did not answer, though, since he was asleep, and Sherry left numerous voicemails on his cell.

Her last message reportedly said, “Help me, please. Where are you? This is unbelievable.”

Sherry’s last known contact was approximately 30 minutes later when she attempted to call a friend from Montgomery. After that, she was never seen or heard from again. Once Sherry’s ex-husband was unable to get in contact with her the following day, he contacted the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and reported her missing on August 15.

At 9:00 p.m. the day after Sherry vanished, her car – a 1994 canary-yellow Ford Mustang with a white convertible top – was discovered in Midfield, Alabama. It was in the region of 41st Street and Industrial Boulevard, which is about five miles southwest of Ensley. Still, there was no sign of Sherry.

According to Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon, investigators searched “many places to no avail.” However, few other case details were commented on, except for the mention that Sherry’s disappearance is now being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.

Authorities reportedly named multiple persons of interest in Sherry’s case, but none were ever officially named as suspects in her disappearance. Additionally, investigators have not shared what evidence led them to believe these persons were involved in Sherry going missing.

So, her case has remained unsolved for nearly 19 years, and Sherry’s strange disappearance continues to haunt her loved ones.

“There’s a whole lot more that we’re not seeing to this case. She was a really great girl. She was a great mom – that was the best thing about her,” her ex-husband, Michael, said.

Sherry’s son, David, was only 8 years old when his mom vanished. He doesn’t believe that his mom would ever just leave, and he thinks something suspicious happened.

“She’s definitely always in my mind, that’s for sure. I’m always thinking about her,” he said.

At the time she vanished, Sherry was five foot six, weighed 138 pounds, and had brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing tan capri pants, a multi-colored v-neck shirt with horizontal stripes, and flip-flops.

If you have any information regarding her disappearance, you are urged to contact the Birmingham Police Department at (205) 254-7777.
