About three weeks after TikToker Nathan (@innateperception) caught his significant other of four years cheating, he took to the dating apps for the first time ever.
Now that he was single, he decided to try something new as he started dating again. He ended up matching with a girl, and they immediately hit it off. Their conversations were full of flirty banter, and she seemed exactly his type.
He noticed that the photos in her dating profile had been edited with a filter, but he figured that the filters probably hadn’t altered her appearance that much. He put on his best outfit to meet up with her at the location she had sent him.
When he arrived at 10 p.m., he realized that he was at the trashiest trailer park in the entire Phoenix metro area. There was an overwhelming odor of waste and cigarettes. She texted him and told him to park right next to an electric mobility scooter.
He got out of the car and saw her standing there. When she smiled at him, he noticed that her teeth were in rough shape. She only had four front teeth.
The rest of her teeth were black and rotting. It turned out that the filters had hidden more than just a few blemishes.
Even though she had misrepresented herself, he still took her out on the best date of her life. He introduced her to his favorite beers and his favorite music, and they just talked about life.
While they were at the bar, people kept coming up to him and asking him if he was okay, clearly surprised by the stark difference between the two of them.
At the end of the night, he drove her back home and gave her a hug goodbye. She wanted him to come inside her grandpa’s trailer, but he declined the invitation.

Her grandpa was sitting out front with his oxygen tank.
Later that night, Nathan checked his social media and saw that she had made a post with a black background with the words, “I don’t even know why I try.”
Overall, the date demonstrated how unpredictable online dating can be, especially when you’ve been out of the game for a while. Instead of being bitter about it, he framed the experience as a chance to show kindness and behave like a gentleman, even when things don’t go how you expected.
In the comments section, many TikTok users praised him for following through on the date and treating the woman with respect, despite her catfishing.
