If your friend’s husband touched you inappropriately, would you say something to you friend and risk her not buying your side of the story?

This woman recently went to a Christmas party with her friends, and the jeans she had on that day had a rip around the upper part of her inner thigh.

She didn’t change her pants because she paired them with a longer sweater, so nobody could really see the tear. Also, it was located in a place that wasn’t inappropriate, since it would be equivalent to what you would see if she had shorts on.

Regardless, she double checked throughout the night that she was sitting in such a way that the rip wasn’t visible to anyone around her.

Now, she’s super close to the group of girls she attended the party with. They spend time together several times each week and text daily.

Occasionally, her friends bring their husbands and boyfriends to some of their outings, and at this Christmas party, some of the significant others were present.

At one point during the party, they were all sitting cross-legged on the floor, and she was directly next to her friend’s husband.

“I reached for something which made my sweater lift up, exposing the thigh rip for a second. In that moment, my friend’s husband decided to touch my thigh through the rip,” she explained.

“I think he thought it would be funny, but it made me super uncomfortable. I’m trying to get over it and tell myself it’s not a big deal, but it’s actually upsetting me more as time goes on.”

She can’t quit thinking about it, and after he touched her, she pushed his hands away and moved to sit further away from him. She doesn’t think her friends noticed it at all, and she hasn’t brought it up to any of them.

Thinking back, this is hardly the first time that her friend’s husband has touched her in a creepy way, and his justification is that he simply gets her and his wife confused.

One time, he even hugged her from behind and pressed into her body. She looks nothing like her friend, but she figured he was telling the truth about mixing them up.

“He definitely knew what he was doing this time, though, and combined with the other times, I can’t help but see a pattern. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about how a guy thinks he can just touch me,” she continued.

“I don’t feel completely safe around him anymore, but I can’t tell if that’s reasonable or if I’m paranoid. Should I tell my friend that her husband has been making me uncomfortable?”

“Or should I maybe just leave it alone unless it escalates further? I know she saw the hug from behind a while ago, but I don’t think she saw the thigh touch.”

I’m shocked that her friend witnessed the gross hug and didn’t say or do anything. She should tell her friend about the thigh touch, but I think she needs to be prepared for her friend not believing her or failing to do something.
