A spouse and a best friend are two people we never expect to hurt us. Those are some of the most meaningful, sacred roles people can have in your life, but that also gives those people the most power to destroy you.

What would you do if you found out that your best friend hooked up with your spouse, and in a room full of your friends and their kids, no less?

This woman and her husband have been married for seven years, and he recently cheated on her with her best friend. Now, she and her husband have a very close-knit friend group since their family members don’t live close by.

She and her husband spend every holiday with these friends, and they have a lot of events together as well. They often do sleepovers together, and for Christmas, they had a huge one with all of their children and spouses, which was hosted by her brother-in-law.

She went to bed on the early side of the sleepover, as she had to get up really early to care for their newborn twins and older child.

Her husband was still up with her best friend when she left them at 1:30 in the morning. They stayed up until 4:30, and she later found out they had a lot to drink and made out with one another.

“It wasn’t until it was confirmed that what they did was on camera that this was more than just a make-out session. Weeks after I had already started trying to heal and after holidays with family out of town, he finally told me it involved multiple locations on the property and [physical] touching/clothes off,” she explained.

“I didn’t find out that part until weeks later. It crushed me. I’m struggling. I trusted him and her immensely and had no reason to think anything like this would happen.”

“My husband has always been a party guy, but I never ever in my life thought this would happen. He’s always said we were soul mates. We’ve been very happy, the ideal couple, we have fun and have a great [romantic] life even with three kids.”

Small side note here: her brother-in-law has cameras in his house, and that’s how her husband and bestie were literally caught in the act.

She’s heartbroken, even though her husband promises this was a one-time hookup brought on by a number of drinks.

Her husband says he wants to stay married to her and made a mistake, but she’s having a hard time forgiving him, because he intentionally lied to her to make himself less guilty.

This was truly the last thing she needed to deal with, considering her dad recently passed away, she came close to losing her life in childbirth, and it’s been difficult for her to manage twin babies.

She knows she’s a wonderful wife and her husband’s infidelity has nothing to do with her, but despite that, her confidence has taken a hit.

“We have agreed to therapy individually and together, but I just don’t see how I [can] continue this marriage with this huge, heartbreaking betrayal,” she continued.

“It doesn’t compute. Our friend group has been impacted, our life here has been impacted, all for what?! Those of you [who] stayed… How? The images burn me, and I’m not emotionally ruined, and it makes me so angry.”

“I’ve been an incredible wife and friend, and I don’t understand how they could do this to me. They didn’t even think about the fact that our kids and spouses were right there sleeping when they did this.”

Her best friend has sent her a text insisting she feels terrible, and she suspects her best friend did this to her because she’s jealous of the fact that she has children (her best friend is unable to have kids).

Also, she doubts her best friend told her own husband the truth about what she did at the sleepover.

I think she should tell her entire friend group about what happened, and she especially needs to make sure that her best friend’s husband hears about the cheating from her.

I’m worried about what else her husband is hiding or did behind her back, considering he so brazenly hooked up with her best friend right under her nose.

Anyway, this one is grounds for divorce.

What advice do you have for her? Do you think her marriage is over?
