When Caroline Baudino (@shop.with.caroline) was 26 years old, she was engaged to be married. The wedding got called off two days before the engagement party, and everything was a disaster.
They had already bought tickets to Saint Bart’s for Christmas, and they were supposed to go together, but her ex let her take the tickets. And that’s how she found herself at a Diddy party.
So, Caroline took her best friend to Saint Bart’s, and Russell Simmons just so happened to be having his wedding at the time. The island was packed with celebrities and hip-hop stars.
They stayed at a nice hotel and hung out at the beach with a bunch of famous people. They ended up befriending a tennis instructor to the stars. He invited them to a yacht party on P. Diddy’s yacht.
When they arrived at the yacht, they joined the party and enjoyed some drinks. As she walked down the hallway, she came face-to-face with Diddy himself.
He greeted her and asked her where she had been, even though they had never met before and didn’t know each other at all. Caroline played along, saying that she had been around.
Overall, the party was a little awkward for Caroline and her friend, just because there were so many celebrities and high-profile people.
At one point, the fiancé of a very well-known movie director came over to chat with them.
Caroline explained that she had just called off her engagement. Almost immediately, he asked her if she wanted to go to the other room and hook up.

Of course, Caroline said no and turned back to her friend to suggest that they leave.
“I was like, I don’t have a good feeling,” she said. “I was like, that is so inappropriate. If that’s how they’re saying hi to someone, I can’t imagine what’s going to happen after midnight.”
Something about the yacht party seemed a little strange, and Caroline didn’t want to stay a second longer. So, she and her friend told everyone they had dinner plans and got off the boat. They ended up going dancing at the club.
Now, at 53 years old, Caroline is reflecting on her experience at a Diddy party and is warning people, especially women, to listen to their gut instincts.
It could save you from potential danger. She is glad she was aware enough and smart enough to walk out before anything bad happened.
“When you have an instinct that something doesn’t feel right or someone’s making you slightly uncomfortable, or you’re looking at the scene and you kind of just know it’s not the right vibe, please go,” she stated.
“Make any excuse and leave. Don’t ever put yourself in harm’s way.”
