On June 8, 2025, TikToker Serena (@ladyluckk) and her partner went to a Mexican restaurant. They ordered food, had a drink or two, downed a shot, and left. They went out to buy some beer and a big flask of Tennessee whiskey before heading to a drive-in theater.

After one movie, they got ready to go home, but Serena suggested that they stay, sleep off the alcohol, and go home in the morning.

But her partner insisted that they leave. He assured her that he was able to drive, so she figured it would be fine. She ended up falling asleep on the way home and woke up about five seconds before they got into a car accident.

When she woke up, she saw the car speeding toward a big tree in front of them. Her partner was hunched over the wheel, completely passed out.

She yelled for him to wake up, and then saw a very bright white light and giant, weird particles everywhere. She also heard a deafening, piercing sound.

She felt blood oozing out of her face before she went unconscious.

“The next thing I remember was waking up in an ambulance and somebody asking me who the president was, and I think I remember answering Obama, which obviously is not correct,” said Serena.

“They brought me to a hospital, which I don’t really remember being there at all, and I guess they did a lot of scans.”

She was transferred to a bigger hospital in Boston due to the severity of her injuries. She had gotten a sternum fracture, a displaced cornea, an open globe injury of the left eye, a fracture on her nose, and lacerations on her eye from the impact of the airbag and the car accident itself.

The doctors were able to save her eye, but not her vision.

In the hospital, she was in extreme pain, and her eye was swollen shut. Her now-ex was in jail. After he was released, he and his mom visited her.

Serena didn’t know what to feel, but she was still in love with him and believed that they could get through this terrible situation. At that time, they had been together for six months and had just gotten engaged.

Now, she is sharing her story as a warning to others to make better decisions and to never drink and drive.

“My goal here isn’t to patronize anybody,” she said. “It’s to please be aware of what you are doing. I made the choice. I understand what happened.”

“But please, just don’t drink and drive, and do not become a passenger. Don’t put your life at risk. It’s just really, really not worth it, and it’s not worth your family going through all of that with you. Think about. Think twice.”
