When TikToker Sammy (@cr30lequeen) was about 24 or 25 years old, she met a man who was trying to advance his professional boxing career.
After a few weeks of chatting, they decided to go on a date. They really hit it off and started going on dates for the next couple of weeks. Soon enough, they were in an official relationship.
At one point, she went to visit him at his house. She thought he was renting a room there, but it turned out to be a whole shared living situation.
There were two bunk beds in every room and a common room for watching TV. He seemed to have good relationships with the other people living there.
Eventually, they went into his room, and one of his bunkmates was there. He was concerned and mentioned something about how Sammy shouldn’t be there.
Sammy’s boyfriend beat him up, causing a huge commotion. Someone downstairs called the police. Sammy was crying, and he packed up his clothes to get ready to leave.
They had driven separately, so they each hopped into their cars and took off. It was three in the morning, and he didn’t have anywhere else to go, so she invited him back to her place.
He stayed for just a night or two. The police never came looking for him. Sammy assumed it was because the other guy had decided not to press charges.
Months later, he invited Sammy over to his mom’s house for Thanksgiving, which was also when he proposed to her. He had no ring for her, so the next day, they went to Walmart to buy gold wedding bands.

By Christmas, she started noticing that he was very possessive. He constantly wanted to see her phone and even deleted one of her social media profiles just because he didn’t like it.
They decided to get married on Valentine’s Day at the church he attended. After they got married, she saw him undergo a huge personality shift.
On their honeymoon in Vegas, she started to realize that this guy might actually be a little crazy.
A song came on the radio that she wanted to listen to, but he got weirdly jealous, grabbed the steering wheel, and started swerving all over the freeway. Soon, he calmed down and pulled over to the side of the road.
When they finally got back to their hotel, she cried for hours. A couple of weeks later, she found out that she was pregnant with their daughter.
“So, we did eventually end up talking about the incident,” said Sammy. “He made it seem like it was just a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and it would never happen again.”
“Moving forward, as the marriage continued down the line, his possessive behavior just increased over time…especially after he found out that I was pregnant.”
He would show up at the furniture store where she worked to see what she was doing. One day, she checked the mail and saw a letter addressed to him.
When she opened it up, she saw that it was a divorce decree with information about paternity and child support for another child that Sammy had no clue about.
She knew that he had two kids and was raising his daughter by himself, but this third child and the fact that he had been previously married were news to her.
She confronted him when he returned from the boxing gym. He admitted that he had been married before and probably had three or four more kids, but he wasn’t sure.
Sammy was actually his third wife. To make matters worse, he drained Sammy’s bank account while she was giving birth. At a time when she needed support and stability, he exploited her.
Looking back, the warning signs were there from the beginning.
