Once, TikToker Eve (@ebtilley) dated a guy with a credit score so low that he couldn’t actually lease a car himself. His credit score was in the 450s. He convinced her to cosign on a car with him so that he could get to work and make money to take her out on dates.
However, he stopped paying the monthly car bill, and his phone got turned off, so she couldn’t call him to remind him to pay it. She would end up having to pay the bill herself so that her own credit score wouldn’t be affected.
After the third time this happened, a close friend of hers asked if she had a spare key to the car. So, Eve planned to steal the car from him since it was also in her name. But the car wasn’t at his mom’s house, which was where Eve thought he was staying when he wasn’t with her.
She proceeded to go on a wild goose chase, looking for him at four or five other girls’ houses. She tracked these girls down by reverse searching their phone numbers after finding them in his call log.
A couple of days later, he finally returned her phone calls and convinced her to be in an official relationship with him. He stopped paying his car bill again, she got mad, he started hanging out with another girl, felt bad about it, and returned to Eve.
The cycle continued for about two more years until he proposed to her with an engagement ring he bought with her credit card.
Luckily for her, he got into a car accident about three years into the lease. He was paid $10,000 and used the money to buy a new car. By then, they weren’t talking anymore, so she wasn’t on the new lease.
“I did, however, never let a payment go unpaid,” said Eve. “I made sure my credit score stayed on the straight and narrow. Just a reminder, if you’re down bad, it could be worse.”
In the comments section, everyone was in disbelief over her story. Some shared about their own relationships with irresponsible men.

“I once let a guy I just started dating borrow $3,000 because his car was broken. He dumped me after, but I wound up suing him and got my money back,” commented one user.
“I married a man whose credit score was so low, he was not allowed to have a checking account. At any bank,” shared another.
“I left a man because he canceled plans with me three different times over the course of five months. How did you tolerate this?” wrote a third.
“I knew a guy with a credit score of 7. Not 700. I called him James Bond because Credit Karma put zeroes in front,” added someone else.
