When TikToker Ariana (@thearianacaparelli) was 15 years old, she entered her first real relationship. They dated for a total of eight years.

Her relationship followed a predictable pattern. During this period of time, they would break up and get back together about every six months like clockwork.

“Every time we would break up, the lines would be blurred, and he’d always be talking to another girl,” said Ariana. “Then, when we would get back together, things would just overlap.”

By the time the truth finally came out, she realized she had been ignoring the warning signs for far longer than she wanted to admit. Ariana repeatedly heard rumors about her boyfriend cheating on her, but there was never enough proof to confirm it was true.

So, she continued giving him the benefit of the doubt and stayed in the relationship for years. Their relationship seemed to be moving toward a happy ending.

Eventually, they got engaged and started planning their wedding. From the outside, it looked like they had weathered many ups and downs and were finally settling into a future together.

But one day, his best friend called her and told her that she needed to call off the wedding because her fiancé was cheating on her, and he had been for the entirety of their relationship.

This time, it wasn’t just rumors. The best friend gave out names and showed her the multiple social media profiles as evidence to back up his claims.

“Honestly, I think the worst part is that when I found that out, I don’t even think I was surprised,” said Ariana. “I think part of me just kind of knew. Like, my body knew.”

Looking back, Ariana believes her upbringing played a significant role in why she stayed for so long. Growing up in an abusive household, Ariana was used to dysfunction and chaos.

She mistook them for normal parts of love. She never had healthy role models when it came to love and romance. So, she didn’t realize that she was allowed to leave a relationship that was hurting her.

In the comments section, some TikTok users questioned why her ex-fiancé’s best friend took so long to come forward, but were relieved that the truth emerged before legal ties were made.

“I’m glad he finally told you, but why didn’t he do it earlier? Could’ve saved you a lot of time! But I’m so happy you’re out of that, and I hope you’re the happiest you’ve ever been now,” commented one user.

“Wow, I’m sorry it took so long for his best friend to tell you, but I’m glad he did before you made a legal decision that would’ve been so much harder to get out of. Sending you love and care. It happens to the best of us,” wrote another.

“This is so real. I’m so happy you left. People underestimate how hard it is!” exclaimed a third.
