When TikToker @junk_mom was 14 years old, her parents got divorced. Her dad moved out and had a new girlfriend six months later. Five months after that, he announced that his new girlfriend and her three kids were moving in with him.

The three kids were under the age of 10, so they all had high energy levels. The new girlfriend was also very annoying and high-maintenance.

Almost every day, there was some kind of new rule about how TikToker @junk_mom and her siblings had to interact with her to make sure she didn’t get mad.

For example, they had to say goodnight to her and tag her name on at the end; otherwise, it sounded like they were being too aggressive toward her.

At the time, it was incredibly irritating to deal with, but in hindsight, it is now really funny.

This girlfriend liked to say the phrase, “That is so yum,” when she ate something tasty. TikToker @junk_mom hated it. It made her skin crawl, but she never brought it up.

One day, she was in the car with her dad. On the radio, they heard someone say, “This food is yum.” She made a disgusted sound and blurted out that she hated the phrase. Her dad turned, looked at her, and said, “No, you don’t.”

Some TikTok users shared the times they had to deal with their dad’s new girlfriend in the comments section. They were all very unpleasant situations.

“My poor kids have dealt with this. He moved in his new girlfriend two weeks after he moved out of the family home. She left because the kids weren’t treating her like she was their mom. He is on ‘true love #4’, and my kids have met all of them. None lasted more than six months. He wonders why the kids hate him,” commented one user.

“When I was like 14, my dad got with somebody only seven years older than me. Like born within the same decade (1990 for her and I’m 1997), and they both would get so irritated that I treated her like a peer and not a mother figure, but idk what they expected. My age gap with her is smaller than the age gap between myself and the kids she had with my dad,” wrote another.

“I’m in adulthood, and my dad does this with his girlfriends, especially their adult children, if I’m not ‘performing’ enough. I got sick on a visit, and he was livid because I went upstairs to get rest. It’s awful. They care so much for anyone but us,” stated a third.
