Last month, TikToker Tracey (@traceyhair16) took her dogs for a walk at night, and after an unnerving incident, she learned a very valuable lesson: do not go walking alone in the dark.
So, one night, she had planned to walk her dogs to a friend’s house. The friend lived only a couple of blocks away, and Tracey had her dogs with her, so she wasn’t too concerned about any dangers lurking in the dark.
She had also never been scared to walk by herself at night since she lived in a safe neighborhood.
Between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., she left her house. Some cars came down the street a couple of times, so she would step to the side of the road to get out of the way. When a third car approached, she moved out of the way again. The car slowed down and stopped in front of her.
“It was a weird place where they stopped,” Tracey recalled. “It wasn’t in front of the house, the driveway, or the sidewalk. It was kind of in between houses, which was my first red flag.”
Tracey stood there for a second, thinking it was a delivery person. She started to go around the car to continue on her walk. But just then, a light came on in the vehicle, illuminating the faces of two men. It made her super uncomfortable.
“So, I, instead of walking around the car, I cross the street and continue to walk with my dogs, and the car started backing up,” said Tracey.
“As I’m walking, they’re backing up across the street, beside me, and I could see them looking at me, and it just gave me chills.”
She took off running through a yard, went up to somebody’s porch, and rang the doorbell. She had no idea if anyone was going to answer, but luckily, a woman answered the door and came to her rescue.

Tracey told her that there was a car across the street with two men in it, and she was really scared. The woman opened her door without any hesitation and invited Tracey and her two dogs inside.
Another woman inside the house greeted her, and they let her sit in the living room until the car left. Then, they drove her home.
Once Tracey was safe in her home, she thought about what could’ve happened to her and began tearing up. Now, she’s warning other women not to put themselves in that type of situation and to think about the consequences of their actions.
“If you’re a female, don’t go walking by yourself in the morning, at dark, at night, whatever,” she said.
“Just don’t do it. So, I’m just sharing this, hoping you’ll take heed, be careful, and be aware of your surroundings. Don’t take anything for granted.”
