It’s easy to assume that an adult will step in and take control in the case of an emergency, but according to TikToker Misty (@mistysimplified), her teenage daughter was the most capable person in the room when a stranger’s life was on the line.

Her 14-year-old daughter saved a stranger’s life while she was out shopping with a friend. One of the employees at the store they were in had a seizure. The employee became unresponsive, with no breathing and no pulse.

There were only about six people in the store. When someone asked if anyone knew how to do CPR, Misty’s daughter stepped up. She had learned how to do CPR in her eighth-grade health class and did not hesitate to put that knowledge into action.

She performed chest compressions until the employee became conscious again. The woman began sputtering and breathing, but the medical emergency wasn’t over just yet.

She then started having another seizure and became unresponsive for the second time.

Misty’s daughter performed chest compressions again, staying focused under pressure. Her efforts paid off, and the woman came back around. She was vomiting, but she was alive.

Meanwhile, Misty’s daughter’s friend had already called 911, and the paramedics were on the way. By the time the paramedics arrived, the woman was sitting up and conscious.

It was quite the turnaround from where she had been minutes earlier. The two teenage girls didn’t stick around for praise or recognition. Instead, they quietly slipped away out to the parking lot.

“We’re proud of her actions, but we’re more proud of her bravery,” said Misty. “There were several other adults in the store, and not one of them even tried to assist this woman.”

“I would encourage you to talk to your kids about what to do in an emergency situation because you never know when one of them might have the opportunity to save a life.”

Everyone in the comments section praised Misty’s daughter for keeping her composure in such a high-stakes situation. They were amazed by the quick thinking shown by both girls.

“Incredible for a 14-year-old to achieve proper CPR not just once but twice!” exclaimed one user.

“Your daughter and her friend demonstrated courage and compassion when it was needed most. Great job to both of them!” commented another.

“Learning CPR in eighth grade is why I became a nurse. I’m now a nurse practitioner. Bravo to your daughter,” stated a third.

Moments like this are powerful reminders that life-saving skills aren’t just reserved for professionals. With the proper training and the confidence to act, even young people can make a difference between life and death.

Clearly, it’s important for schools to be teaching such skills.
