First dates are already nerve-wracking, with figuring out what to wear, what to say, and how to make a good impression. But the pressure really comes when your date’s mother decides to tag along.

One time, TikToker Wyatt (@wyattjsnow) matched with a guy on a dating app. The guy asked him out on a date, made a reservation at a restaurant, and gave him a time to meet.

But when Wyatt showed up at the restaurant, he was in for an unpleasant surprise. The host led him over to the table. He rounded the corner and saw his date sitting with his mother at the table. They were side by side in a booth. Wyatt slid into the booth across from them and greeted them both.

The mother immediately spoke up and proceeded to ask him what seemed like a million questions. She took over the entire conversation.

The whole time, his actual date never even looked at him or talked to him once. She made Wyatt tell her about his childhood, employment history, medical history, and past relationships.

“I’m very personable,” said Wyatt. “I try to make her laugh. She’s not laughing. In fact, she’s not cracking a smile. Meanwhile, I’m telling her these things, and she’s sitting there, writing things down, taking notes like a class.”

They ordered food, and the mom seemed to judge his choice. By then, it was clear that this wasn’t a date. It was more like an interview process.

At the end of the date, the mom grabbed the bill and paid for their meals. After Wyatt left, he received two messages. One of them was from his date on the dating app, saying that he had a wonderful time and would love to go out again.

The second message was from an unknown number. It was his date’s mother, letting him know that they didn’t think it would be a good fit.

Wyatt responded with, “Hi, miss. I also feel the same way. Please take care and good luck with your future endeavors.”

And, of course, he blocked them both. He also pointed out one final, unsettling detail: he has no idea how the mother even got his number in the first place.

In the comments section, people were stunned by the mother’s audacity and shared what they would have done if they were in Wyatt’s shoes.

“I could see having lunch with his mother after several dates, but not on the first date. That would just be crazy that he did not say anything,” wrote one user.

“If I went on a date and the person’s mother was there, I would turn around and leave,” stated another.

“I would’ve walked out straightaway as this indicates that the mother would be in your business 24/7,” commented a third.
