Grief has a strange way of rewriting the rules of everyday life. One minute, you’re going through something as ordinary as an old backpack, and the next, it feels like the universe is trying to tell you something.
One mom is on TikTok on an account called @arianaryefoundation, and she is sharing the signs she received from her daughter in heaven.
In April 2024, the family was on vacation in Florida when this mom’s seven-year-old daughter, Ariana, passed away unexpectedly.
She was born prematurely and had cerebral palsy. They did a butterfly release for her celebration of life, which was a fitting tribute because Ariana loved butterflies.
Since then, butterflies have continued to appear in ways that feel more than coincidental. Recently, her other daughter, Kyra, was playing with Ariana’s book bag, which has a butterfly design on it.
She happened to see Ariana’s folder, so she grabbed it and opened it up. She found a QR code and a piece of Ariana’s artwork that she must have painted before they went on vacation to Florida.
“What’s even more weird is that I saw a butterfly in the yard the day before finding her artwork, so I got my phone out immediately and opened the QR code to see if it would still work and if I could still purchase the artwork,” she said. “So, I bought a hundred dollars’ worth of Ariana’s art.”
It was a tangible way of holding onto something Ariana created herself, seemingly rediscovered at just the right moment, almost as if it were a sign that her young daughter was watching over her from above. Although Ariana’s life was cut short, she left a lasting imprint on everyone around her.
In the comments section, many TikTok users shared similar experiences, reinforcing the idea that symbols like butterflies carry deep emotional meaning for those dealing with grief and loss.

“My best friend/cousin was my world, and I lost him back in 2019 at age 19. He had cerebral palsy and was one of the funniest people in the world. We grew up just 11 months apart and got ourselves in all kinds of trouble growing up. I miss him dearly, but I’m sure he’s keeping your little one laughing up there,” commented one user.
“My mom always told me that butterflies and hummingbirds are your loved ones who come and visit! Sending love from a mom of an angel to a mom of an angel,” wrote another.
“Butterflies are symbols from those who have passed. Ever since my grandma passed away, butterflies appear randomly when I need them the most,” added someone else.
Whether these moments are signs or just meaningful coincidences, they demonstrate that love doesn’t just disappear. It simply finds new ways to show up.
