Back in 2021, TikToker Emily (@quietly.emily) and her now-husband were living in an apartment in Florida. At the time, they got engaged and were ready to buy a house. They bought their first house in Sarasota, Florida. It needed some work, but they were excited about it.
Their offer on the house was significantly under the asking price, but the sellers immediately accepted it. They wanted a quick closing.
When Emily and her husband got to closing, the couple selling the house seemed very upset. Their parents were with them, and they were also upset.
Emily and her husband thought that they were upset about a divorce or a loss in the family. They closed and started working on the house right away.
They scraped off the popcorn ceilings, redid the floors, and painted the walls. They could only do house projects on the weekends because they worked at their full-time jobs during the week. So, the house was left vacant from Monday to Friday.
Emily applied for a new credit card and put her new home address as the billing address. On the day she received the notification that her new card had been delivered, she was hanging out with her mom. They drove over to pick up the card, but it was nowhere to be found.
She called the credit card company and told them that her card had been stolen. They told her that she had signed for it and then tried to take $10,000 out of an ATM. After talking to the credit card company, she walked into the house and immediately sensed that something was off.
When she walked into the bathroom, she saw that the tub was filled with dirty water. She called her husband and asked him about it, but he hadn’t touched the tub at all.
Then, she went into the back guest room and saw human feces on top of a sheet of newspaper. Someone was also in the backyard.

She called the police, and they came over, but they were very casual. They told her that no one had broken into her house and explained that a woman regularly stalked the house.
She used to live there 20 years ago. The house was passed down to the woman’s daughter, but the daughter moved to the Midwest to get away from her.
The police told her that she had no legal rights until she could prove that the woman was actively trying to break into her home and harm her. So, they set up cameras and caught the woman trying to enter their home. She even stole Emily’s shoes.
“I also feel like I need to say that clearly she is a crippled, drug-addicted woman who has suffered from major mental health problems, and it is, of course, a systematic issue, and I’m not saying that this is all her fault by any means, but we were put in a very troubling situation with this because it was unsafe for me to be home by myself,” said Emily.
Shortly after, Emily found out she was pregnant. She had to live with her parents for a while because of how unsafe she felt. After another incident with the woman, Emily called the police station and had them pull up police reports dating all the way back to 20 years, involving the house she owned.
Apparently, the woman had bought the house in the ’90s and started selling drugs from it. She ended up messing with the wrong people, so they shot up the house. There were also multiple incidents of her and other people overdosing on the front lawn.
Emily and her husband decided to try to sell the house. She went to a realtor and provided her with all the information she had gathered on the house and the situation.
Emily and her husband had no legal obligation to disclose the information, so they didn’t. They moved to New Jersey and waited for the house to be sold. Once that happened, they bought a new house.
The woman was hospitalized in 2022. After she was discharged from the hospital, she passed away.
