When the person you fell head over heels in love with doesn’t truly exist, how are you supposed to come to terms with the last two years of your romance being nothing but a big lie?
This 30-year-old woman has a 41-year-old boyfriend. They met two years ago after he became her new coworker. The very first time she met him, he revealed to her that his mom and his wife had passed away in a car accident in 2018.
She asked him if he had any kids, and he said no; he and his wife never wanted them, as their marriage was plagued with a ton of issues.
“I felt so much compassion for him. I cannot explain why, but I just wanted him to know that someone cared about him. We slowly became close,” she said.
“He was kind, respectful, emotionally supportive, and eventually we fell in love. We spent almost every day together. We had tea together, took breaks together, had dinner together, and I spent most evenings at his apartment. I genuinely believed I was loving a man who had lost everything.”
“About six months ago, we had a rough phase because his ex-girlfriend came back into his life. We argued, and during that time he took another woman to a movie and later brought her to his apartment. I was completely heartbroken.”
Her boyfriend said sorry, sobbed, and pleaded with her to forgive him. She did give him a second chance, as everyone makes mistakes.
A couple of weeks ago, her boyfriend’s niece came to stay at his place. She was chatting with her when she brought up the car accident that took her boyfriend’s wife and mom from him, and his niece looked puzzled.
Her boyfriend’s niece then stated there had never been a car accident. His mom passed away from failing to receive proper care, and his wife is very much so still alive.

Not only that, her boyfriend has a 12-year-old daughter that he has hidden from her too. Her brain completely failed to function after she was hit with this information.
“Everything I believed about this man disappeared in a few seconds. Every memory suddenly felt fake. I kept asking myself if anything he ever told me was real,” she added.
“He has no idea that I know the truth. We had an unrelated disagreement around the same time and have not spoken for almost a month. We work together and see each other every single day, but we completely ignore each other.”
“What surprises me the most is that he has never once asked me why I suddenly changed or tried to find out what happened. I have no intention of confronting him because I do not think there is anything he can say that will undo what I have learned.”
She just doesn’t get why her boyfriend would manufacture such a horrific story. Why would he even lie about his wife being dead when she isn’t?
Why would he pretend his daughter doesn’t exist? The truth always comes out, and yet her boyfriend hid all of this for two whole years without feeling bad about it.
She is furious with her boyfriend, and she feels foolish for buying his tall tales. She is also feeling grief over losing a man who most likely didn’t even exist at all.
“Has anyone experienced something like this? What kind of person lies about something this serious? I genuinely want to understand because I cannot make sense of it,” she concluded.
Wow, her boyfriend is a next-level pathological liar, isn’t he? Normal people don’t manufacture dead wives, kill off their moms in fake car crashes, or erase their own kids to get sympathy and attention.
She shouldn’t feel embarrassed for falling in love with a man who presented himself as a widower. He’s a predator; she’s not a fool.
Moving forward, she should keep on icing her boyfriend out at work, unless she absolutely has to interact with him in a professional capacity. This relationship is so dead, unlike this guy’s wife. Time to lose his number.
What advice do you have for her?
