3 Nurses Working At The Same Hospital Were Diagnosed With Cancer 3 Months Apart From Each Other

New York, New York. Cancer is the one word that can wreck even the strongest person.

The disease kills 606,520 people each year in the US alone. Cancer breaks many families. It affects everyone around the patient. The mental strain to fight it, along with the physical pain, isn’t easy for anyone to bear.

Families that have lost their loved ones to this disease find it hard to revive themselves, to go back to the way things were before.

Living with the terrible disease, praying to beating it, and hoping to come out victorious is what they hope for. To overcome the fight.

We may never know what and how the nurses and doctors at the cancer hospital feel when they see and treat patients with different types and stages of cancer. But here is a story of not one but three nurses who were diagnosed with cancer in the last three months.

Theresa, Helen, and Siobhan are three nurses who have worked at the same hospital in the cardiac department for over ten years and are good friends.

Unfortunately, all three women were diagnosed with cancer just three months apart from one another.

With their sudden diagnoses, all three have been forced to take medical leaves in order to pursue treatment.

Laura Peters, a nurse from the same hospital in the Bronx, NY, shared this story and started a GoFundMe campaign to help these three nurses financially as they take time off work.

She said they are the most caring and compassionate nurses she has ever worked with and explained how they each have the traits that made working at the hospital better.

Even during COVID, the three nurses worked tirelessly to care for their patients, even though it was at the expense of their own families and personal lives.

“These three women have the purest, kindest hearts and are the ones you turn to in time of need,” Laura wrote.

“Helen is the “den mother” of our unit. She gets coffee and lays out snacks before every shift and makes certain that we start our day with a positive attitude.”

“Siobhan is the person you speak to for advice. She gets great satisfaction in helping you solve a problem, and she will walk you through it and discuss the best possible options at your disposal.”

“And finally, Theresa is the “sensitive soul,” the compassionate one, who will give you a big hug when you need it and comfort you and tell you everything will be alright.”

Laura went on to say that they have seven kids between them, along with household expenses, groceries, and mortgages to pay.

On top of these bills, these three nurses also have medical bills that are starting to pile up.

With chemotherapy and medications, it is difficult for the three of them to pay for treatment, let alone their other expenses, without getting their paychecks.
