This Teen Dumped More Than 100 Dead Cockroaches On Her Mom And Dad’s Bed And She’s Telling The Internet They Grounded Her
A 16-year-old girl lives with her mom and dad in a large house located within a gated community.
She began having symptoms of asthma about a few years ago, but it would only hit her while she was trying to go to sleep in her room.
She would be lying in bed, struggling to breathe. Her parents took her to tons of specialists, and she began taking different kinds of allergy medications.
The specialists simply said she had some kind of an allergy, but they weren’t sure what was causing her symptoms.
As she started having these issues with allergies, she noticed there were cockroaches in her bedroom.
She would kill them and throw them in the garbage in an effort to rid her room of them. Then, the vents in her room smelled “musty” to her and more cockroaches started showing up.
She did bring this all up to her mom and dad, but they don’t think there’s a problem with cockroaches in her room at all, even though she’s been seeing at least 15-20 of these things crawling around her room.
Her parents accused her of “being dramatic”, but what really concerns her is that she did a bit of research and learned that cockroaches can bring on respiratory issues.
She hates living with the cockroaches, and she can even feel them on her as she’s sleeping.

“I started taking a photo of every one I killed and sending the picture to my parents,” she explained. “So again, 15-20 pictures a day.”
“They got pissed I’m bothering them at work and that I’m sending a photo of the same dead cockroach over and over.”
“Like literally they were going to ground me over winter break if kept doing it. So instead over this past week, I’ve been keeping the dead ones in a bag marked with the date and then the number of cockroach it was.”
“There were 118 of them over 7 days. I dumped all the little bags on my parents’ bed (so the actual dead cockroaches didn’t touch their bed, just the bags).”
“My parents are LIVID. They’re arguing about what to do about me as I can hear them and in the meantime, I’ve been sent to my room.”
“I just really don’t know how to get across how uncomfortable I am constantly. These things are ALIVE when they’re in my bed.”
She was really lost as to how else she would be able to get her point across to her parents, and she thought that maybe she should have just presented them with the bags instead of dumping them on her mom and dad’s bed.
Her parents essentially grounded her by preventing her from hanging out with her friends over winter break.
On top of that, they gave her more chores for dumping the dead cockroaches on their bed. Her parents also said that they’re upset with her for “overreacting.”
A bit after the fallout, her parents decided to sit down and talk things out with her more. They came up with some solutions for getting rid of the cockroaches, like moving a compost pile in their backyard, but they still won’t call an exterminator.
Her dad is paranoid about allowing people in their house, so that’s the reason why they won’t get an exterminator.
“My mom said after talking they decided I’m un-semi-grounded and I can go to my friend’s house to hang out over break, but that I need to think about how I “escalate situations” and I should have talked to them instead,” she continued.
“Then we all hugged and I asked my dad to stay so I could talk to him. I told him about how it’s upsetting to me that we can’t call an exterminator because they would know how to fix the cockroaches…”
Here’s what the internet had to say.
“Your parents don’t have a right to be mad at you for putting dead cockroaches on their bed. It’s because of them that you’re dealing with alive cockroaches in your bed.”
“If they can’t handle it, why should you?”
“Please don’t be worried about your parents getting in trouble. It’s very unlikely that you’ll be ‘taken away’ from them and MUCH more likely that they’ll just be forced to deal with the cockroach problem and have home inspections in the future to make sure that they’re keeping things sanitary.”
“Even if there was a slightly harsher punishment like, I dunno, a fine or something, that’s okay too. If a kid in your class was throwing cockroaches at people, you’d want him to get detention or something, right?”
“I couldn’t imagine letting my son sleep in a room with ONE cockroach let alone HUNDREDS of them!”
“And the fact that this has been going on for YEARS and has actually caused your health to decline? Their inaction is…vile and they need a wake-up call.”
“Your parents are failing you. There are low-cost traps that can be set out and kill them quickly. Can you get some money to buy some to put around your room until they can get an exterminator?”
“Or ask an aunt or uncle to get you some? You need only a few in a small space, and it will discourage the roaches from coming back.”
“You could fog your room but it is uninhabitable for a while and since you have asthma you should sleep someplace else.”
“Your parents need to take action asap.”
“There are never just a few roaches. They come in masses. They also destroy things like electronics and they carry all kinds of nasty health problems. The house needs to be de-bugged now.”
“…You could tell your doctor. If you’re seeing them for breathing issues and you think the cockroaches might be a problem, they should know. They will be able to report it and hopefully make your parents do something.”
“I have asthma and I thought it had cleared up when I got past 14/15, but it came back again in my late 20s.”
“I finally started taking it seriously when I couldn’t sleep because I kept waking up from not getting enough air. It was horrible and scary. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.”
