This Severely Injured Kitten Was Abandoned Near An Apartment Complex Before She Was Rescued

Sanford, Florida. Adopting a pet requires a lot of time and responsibilities, and while most of us look forward to the day we get to bring home our special friends, sadly enough, there are people out there who lose interest quite quickly.
Pet neglect is more common than it may seem. A pet owner often does not understand what it takes to own and raise these delicate creatures. Surely enough, these animals tend to be abused, neglected, and often abandoned.
Although there are some cruel people in the world, there are some kind-hearted ones out there, such as Donna Kottler, who saved an injured kitten’s life.
Jelly Bean is, unfortunately, one of those animals who happened to be neglected and abandoned.
She was dumped by an apartment complex in Sanford, Florida, because of her injured legs. Luckily, she was found and brought to a local cat rescue, where she was introduced to Donna!
“I have volunteered with a cat rescue for almost 5 years and have had my share of challenges to deal with but nothing as challenging as this,” Donna wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“This sweet, adorable kitten’s life was in my hands and some very hard decisions had to be made.”
Before making any decisions, they realized that Jelly Bean happened to be microchipped. Of course, learning this information had them overwhelmed with excitement.

However, they would soon learn there was a reason behind the series of injuries. The owner knew of them, and instead of taking care of their pet, they neglected them in their time of need.
While euthanasia was on the table due to Jelly Bean’s severe injuries, Donna knew that she had to save this kitten’s life. So she started a GoFundMe account to raise money as the future for this poor kitten was going to be an expensive one.
Jelly Bean’s two back legs were so severely injured, and without proper treatment from the beginning, the vet had to amputate her feet and remove infected dead tissue.
Since this process had been prolonged for quite some time, Jelly Bean would possibly need more amputations, which would eventually lead to prosthetics.
Donna’s GoFundMe page has already reached 72 donations, leaving $2,352. With donations as small as $5, people have been so graciously kind to assist in the process of healing this poor kitten.
This story has touched many people, including those who donated $100 to save Jelly Bean’s life!
“We don’t know what Jelly Bean’s future holds. We don’t know if she will keep the rest of her legs if there will be prosthetics, if there are other options, or if she will lose her legs in full. But all options and all available resources will continue to be explored.”
“She will continue to get the best care that we can.”
