This College Girl Rescued Her Cat From Underneath A Car When He Was Only 4-Months-Old And After He Mysteriously Fell Ill, She’s Been Fighting To Save Him

St. Louis, Missouri. A young college student has started a fundraiser for her cat, Loaf, who has suddenly and mysteriously fallen ill.
Alana Mccall is sending out a cry for help after her 2-year-old named Loaf came down with a high fever in late March.
Alana rescued Loaf when he was just a four-month-old kitten. She found him sitting under her boyfriend’s car. She described him as being so small and dirty, and she took Loaf and wrapped him up in her coat.
Her boyfriend told her not to take him, but she said he could “suck it up.” She then took Loaf home.
“Ever since then, he has been the light in my life,” explained Alana.
Sadly, this is not the first time Loaf has gotten sick.
Last summer, Alana had to take him to the animal hospital when he fell ill due to an unknown origin. Between then and now, he was doing fine and taking the medications he was prescribed.
On March 28th, Alana noticed Loaf acting similarly to how he did when he was sick over the summer.

He was lethargic, not eating, and had a high fever of 104.6 degrees. An average temperature for a cat ranges from 100.4 to 102.5 degrees.
She took him back to the vet, although they still struggled to find the root cause of his issues.
A day later, they moved him to the emergency hospital after his fever continued to rise. He was given an extensive series of tests and administered more medication, which subsequently led to Alana getting charged $2,500.
Later that day, Loaf’s doctors began to believe that he is suffering from a Bartonella infection, which can cause a series of issues.
Although the doctors may have come to a diagnosis, Loaf’s health battle is not over. His white blood cell count is irregular, he has swollen lymph nodes from the infection, and he is still dealing with a fever.
His appetite has not come back, and as of April 2nd, he has barely eaten. Doctors are unable to give him a feeding tube because of his low platelet count.
“I don’t know what to do,” wrote Alana.
Alana is not currently employed, as she is a full-time college student. She has spent all of her savings on Loaf’s medical bills but is not ready to give up on her baby.
Alana has created a GoFundMe in hopes that people will continue to help her give Loaf the proper treatment he needs.
“I’m raising money so he can live,” she said. “He doesn’t deserve this.”
