“Well, my boyfriend found out and he is…not happy,” she said. “This friend and I joke all the time about being brother/sister, and I’ve never had any romantic interest in him at all, so I didn’t think it would be an issue.”
Just to be sure, she did let her boyfriend know that she was going to be taking her best guy friend to prom with her, and she asked him if that bothered him at all.
She then made it clear to her boyfriend that if he did have a problem with her going to prom with her friend, she would bow out of that plan, as she wanted to prioritize her boyfriend’s feelings over her prom plans.
“My boyfriend said he was fine with it, but he was being really passive-aggressive and talking about how he’s upset but doesn’t want to discuss it,” she continued.
“I guess I see why it would be weird, but he said he was fine with it so I’m just not sure.”
Do you think it’s a problem for her to go to prom with her best guy friend even if her boyfriend is insecure about it, and should she back out now?
