A College Student From Tennessee Was Tragically Killed After Being Struck By A Gate That Was Charged By A Horse

Breanna Leigh Chadwick, a twenty-year-old college student from Canton, Tennessee, tragically passed away on Friday, July 8.
She had been visiting the Chatsworth Saddle Club for a Wagon Train observance when a horse reportedly charged a gate and “caused it to strike” Breanna.
She was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before passing away shortly after.
The freak accident has shocked Breanna’s family, friends, and the greater Canton community.
She was known for her beautiful smile and sassy attitude, love for Chick-fil-A, and birthday cake ice cream.
Breanna was also a lifelong athlete who grew up excelling in softball, basketball, and lacrosse.
And after graduating high school, she went on to attend Reinhardt University and planned to become a third-grade teacher.
“She loved all kids, and they loved her. She touched so many lives and will continue to for many years,” Breanna’s family wrote in her obituary.

Kirstin Chadwick, Breanna’s sister, also asked for prayers on Facebook following the accident. There, over one hundred and fifty people have shared their condolences for the Chadwick family.
“I am so sorry this happened. I am praying for you and all your family. Our heart breaks for you,” wrote one commenter.
“So so sorry for your family’s incredible loss. Prayers for everyone,” commented a second user.
And amidst grieving the loss of Breanna, the Chadwick family has also been left with massive medical costs and funeral expenses to cover. A friend of Breanna’s has since organized a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of alleviating some of these financial stressors.
“They [the Chadwicks] are going through enough as it is. I would just like to help in any way possible,” wrote Hali Cheyene, the fundraiser’s organizer.
The GoFundMe was launched with a goal of fifty thousand dollars. So far, just over thirty-one thousand dollars have been raised by over three hundred and sixty donors.
Since announcing the fundraiser, the Chadwick family has also decided to allocate any additional donations toward a scholarship fund in Breanna’s name.
