Families are always feuding or enmeshed in some type of drama. In every family, there’s always at least one relative who is known for starting arguments or spreading rumors.
According to TikToker Kate (@katehallwilson), her family is beyond messy. She’s sharing a story that’s tangled with affairs, accusations, and social media wars.
So, her stepdad is 33 years older than her mom, and he found out that she was cheating on him through her boyfriend’s girlfriend’s mom. Confused? So was just about everyone else.
Kate’s mom had been having an affair with a guy since 2019. Kate doesn’t understand the relationship because, in her words, this guy is “seriously disgusting.”
He had been fooling around with a bunch of other women. One of the women he was fooling around with thought that they were in an exclusive relationship.
“She thought it was the real deal, that she was going to move into his house, they were going to get married, and have a happy life together,” said Kate.
“Well, she finds out that her exclusive boyfriend is fooling around with somebody else. And instead of blaming the man, she blamed the woman. But my mom was in the wrong, obviously, because she’s cheating on her husband.”
The situation quickly snowballed. The supposedly exclusive girlfriend told her mother what was going on, and the mother messaged Kate’s stepdad to tell him that Kate’s mom was harassing her daughter.
She threatened legal action, including filing a cease-and-desist letter against Kate’s mom, and made other threats as well.
Of course, Kate ended up getting roped into the drama, even though she wanted nothing to do with it. The exclusive girlfriend’s sister started messaging Kate, her stepsisters, and her stepdad’s daughters. Before long, the conflict spilled onto social media.
“So then, a bunch of drama goes down on social media,” said Kate. “Everybody’s posting about everybody. There’s a ton of drama. It’s literally like middle school, but the adult version because there’s cheating wives, and somehow, I’m in the middle of it all because I’m the daughter.”
People repeatedly expected Kate to intervene. They asked her to “get a hold” of her mom and put an end to the situation, but she retorted that she wasn’t about to parent her own mother. She refused to take responsibility for another adult’s poor choices.
Children, no matter how old they are, should never be expected to clean up the consequences of their parents’ decisions. The affair itself was already shocking, but dragging family members into the fallout only made the situation more disastrous.
Despite everything that happened, Kate’s mom and stepdad are still married, and her mom is still with the other guy. Who knows how long that will last?
