Her Beach Bag Spontaneously Combusted After Being Left In The Scorching Sun

A British travel influencer named Eva Bacchoo was sunbathing in Greece when she realized she smelt smoke.
To her surprise, her beach bag had caught on fire.
Eva took to TikTok to explain the odd occurrence.
“Just to give you an idea of how hot it currently is in Greece, my bag just set itself on fire,” she said before showing her charred beach bag.
“We put the fire out, but basically, the button got so hot, and I began to smell something burning,” Eva continued.
She thought the smell was odd but wrote it off. Eventually, though, Eva turned to grab her water bottle and noticed the flames.
Thankfully the purse’s contents were okay. But, Eva described how the fire was “far from ideal.”
“This was my favorite bag,” she said.

And while the incident might seem extremely bizarre, it is a reminder to stay safe as the summer heats up.
You may also want to take stock of your beach accessories since some fabrics are more combustible than others.
In fact, untreated natural fibers such as cotton, linen, and silk will burn much more readily than wool.
Couple the more flammable fabrics with metal features such as buttons or zippers, and you may have a firey situation on your hands if you find yourself in too hot of weather.

Eva’s canvas tote bag was actually made from one hundred percent cotton, which explains why it was able to ignite so readily.
And apparently, countless people throughout the TikTok community have the same bag and are becoming a bit concerned.
“I have this bag, and I just took it on holiday! Omg,” wrote one commenter.
“I bought this bag for my holiday to Crete in August… this was my sign,” commented a second user.
“New fear unlocked,” shared a third.
Do not worry, though; you don’t have to stop bringing products made from these fabrics to the beach altogether. Instead, perhaps try leaving them in the shade when possible.
Or, if needed, you can cover your belongings with a lightly dampened towel to prevent any possibility of ignition.
