Her Fiancé And Mother-In-Law Are Refusing To Let Her Have Vegan Options At Her Wedding Even Though She And Her Entire Family Are Vegan

This twenty-five-year-old woman is getting married to her thirty-one-year-old fiancé in just a few months.
And, for the most part, the wedding planning process has gone swimmingly for the couple. That is, except for the food selections.
The woman and her family are all vegan and have chosen the diet for a plethora of reasons– one being that the family has a history of health problems.
On the other hand, though, her fiancé and his family are “complete opposites.”
“They are hardcore meat eaters, which is fine by me, obviously,” the woman said.
But, she only began to care once the family’s meat preferences started to infringe on her own wedding food options.
In fact, while planning their catering, the woman suggested they add four or five vegan options to accommodate herself and her family on the big day.
Instead of letting the bride have her preferred half of the food, though, the woman’s fiancé and mother-in-law freaked out.
They claimed it would be a waste of money to pay for “food that is not real food” and even suggested that serving vegan options would be offensive to “their guests.”

Instead, their solution was to serve “the good ‘ole salads and appetizers” that vegans apparently always eat. Understandably, though, the woman was not having that on her wedding day.
“I said no because first, it’s my family and me who are paying. Second, I want to make my guests feel welcomed and not be treated as second-class citizens by being served ‘salad,'” the woman explained.
And following her explanation, she refused to budge on this decision and believed that her fiancé would understand.
But, the woman was appalled when she found out her husband-to-be went behind her back and canceled all of her vegan options.
She was beyond infuriated and immediately called him while he was at work. But, he continued hanging up on her.
So, the woman took matters into her own hands and showed up at his workplace.
“I confronted him there and just flipped out on him. At first, he said it was his mom’s idea, then told me to go home because I was making a scene at the office,” she recalled.
But, even at home, the arguing raged on. The woman’s fiancé continued to defend himself and claimed that putting his foot down over the vegan options was a “last resort” because she had been brushing aside his other wedding input.
This only made the woman seethe with more anger, and afterward, she decided to completely ignore her mother-in-law’s calls.
The next morning, though, the woman woke up to numerous long blocks of text accusing her of acting dismissive of her fiancé’s input and contributions to the wedding.
Then, the mother-in-law brought up what started the entire fight in the first place– the vegan food options.
She denied having any involvement in the canceling of the vegan catering menu, said she still supported her son’s decision, and told the woman “how bad” the entire situation was making her look.
The mother-in-law also suggested that the woman just take one of the “compromises” her son proposed. But, the woman said there was no chance she would do that now.
“I decided to make this my weird hill to die on,” she noted.
And now, the woman has no clue what is going to happen. Supposedly, her fiancé was with his mother during the entire text exchange and saw all of her messages.
But, she does not know if the messages made him change his tune on the vegan menu or if he will still insist on having no vegan food at the wedding.
Regardless, though, the woman is now left wondering if her standing firm on the vegan menu makes her a jerk.
Do you think it is only fair for the woman and her family to have an alternate menu that fits their dietary preferences? Are the woman’s fiancé and his mother-in-law totally overreacting?
