Then, she had the nerve to ask if he had a problem with it– which seriously pissed him off.
“My surname is very unique, especially in the area since my family is not originally from here. So, when people hear the surname, they naturally think of my family and assume this is my kid and it freaking isn’t,” he vented.
What’s worse is that his ex’s child’s father is also apparently in the picture and raising the baby, too. So, he has no clue what the heck is going on there.
Regardless, he ended up being honest with his ex and telling her that, yes, he had a problem with it. Moreover, he thought it was “freaking weird” that she gave her child the last name of the man she is divorced from, who is in no way, shape, or form linked to the child.
Still, though, she said she decided to give her baby his last name “as the mother”– which did not really clear anything up for him.
Nonetheless, he has felt kind of guilty about the interaction ever since. So now, he is not sure if calling her decision “freaking weird” was justified or a really rude thing to say.
Do you think he had a right to be shocked? Why might his ex be keeping his last name? What would you do in this situation?
