She’s Furious With Her Friend For Letting Her Daughter Sit On A Horse While Babysitting
When this woman was eight years old, an unprovoked horse attacked and nearly killed her. She even ended up needing to be hospitalized.
So now, at the age of twenty-nine, she has been left with a “phobia” of horses.
“I put phobia in quotation marks because phobias are irrational fears, and I don’t think my fear is irrational. But, everyone else in my life keeps calling it a phobia,” she explained.
Anyway, her best friend, Eliza, is her polar opposite. In high school, Eliza was apparently a “horse girl” and now even owns some horses herself.
And despite their close-knit friendship, she refuses to interact with Eliza’s horses.
Instead, she just tries to respect their difference of interests and talk about other topics.
Now, though, her four-year-old daughter, Tanya, has gotten involved– and the friends’ “agree to disagree” balance was totally disrupted.
It all began last week when she asked Eliza to babysit Tanya. She and her partner had plans to go to her cousin’s child-free wedding, so bringing Tanya along was really not an option.
So thankfully, Eliza agreed, and she even paid Eliza extra to get some takeout.

Afterward, though, she picked Tanya up from Eliza’s house and listened to her daughter recount the day when, all of a sudden, Tanya said she “sat on a horsey.”
At first, she just thought Tanya meant a rocking horse and went along with it. But then, Tanya said she “fed the horsey some apples”– and she lost it.
She immediately called Eliza after she got home and demanded to know if Tanya had interacted with any horses.
“And at first, Eliza denied everything and said she didn’t know what I was talking about.
But, when I said Tanya told me about it, Eliza admitted she held Tanya while she was sat on one of the horses and helped her feed them,” she recalled.
Then, Eliza apparently went “on and on” about how safe interacting with horses is and that they were totally in control of the situation. But she did not want to hear it.
She ended up telling Eliza off for being irresponsible while caring for her daughter. Moreover, for going behind her back– which she thinks is entirely unacceptable.
“I was so angry and uncomfortable,” she said.
Eliza thought she was totally overreacting because of her phobia, though. Then, Eliza kept reiterating how well-trained their horses were and how Tanya was in no danger whatsoever.
But, she still did not care and just told Eliza that she needed to think long and hard about what she had done.
And ever since then, she has not spoken to Eliza. Instead, she decided to confide in her family for their opinion.
But, they kind of agree with Eliza and believe that she is just projecting her phobia onto her daughter.
So now, she is unsure if she has a right to be angry with Eliza or if she should apologize for freaking out.
If you were in her shoes, would you have gotten angry at Eliza too? Is her fear of horses perhaps being projected on Tanya or not? How would you reconcile this situation?
