You would think that going out with an older guy means more maturity, but TikToker Taylor (@taylor5803) quickly found out this was not the case on her date. She went on a date with a guy who was 19 years older than her.
At first, she was hesitant to go out with him because of the large age gap, but he was really nice and sweet, so she decided to give it a shot. They went out to dinner, and he told her about his divorce.
“He has two kids, so this was not a surprise,” said Taylor. “And he tells me that his ex-wife had cheated on him with…her cousin. After they got divorced, she got married to the cousin.”
“My guess was like a cousin through marriage and not blood-related, but they had grown up together, and she had gotten away with the cheating for so long because she’d be like, I’m just hanging out with my cousin.”
So, this guy had trust issues from that whole situation and was still trying to work through them. The date was going well until he kept ordering more wine and cocktails. He was drinking pretty heavily during the date.
“It’s important to note that at this restaurant, the servers didn’t wear a uniform,” said Taylor. “It was kind of one of those hip restaurants where they just had to wear a black T-shirt, and that was it. There was no distinguishing between the servers and the patrons other than a black T-shirt.”
They were at the restaurant for so long that their server clocked out, and a new server came to start their shift. Their original server had been a woman. Their new server was named Matt, and he walked up to introduce himself while Taylor’s date was in the bathroom.
When her date returned, he asked if he could invite some of his friends at the restaurant to join them at their table. Taylor agreed. Their server, Matt, came up, but everyone else was engaged in a discussion, so he approached Taylor to ask if they needed anything else.
Taylor’s date noticed this and suddenly stopped speaking to her. He just looked at Taylor and then put his arm around the girl sitting next to him.
The girl was confused and asked him what he was doing. He accused Taylor of talking to random guys right in front of him and declared that there was no chance of them sleeping together.
For a moment, Taylor was in shock. She tried to clarify that the guy was their server, but he didn’t believe her. After about 30 seconds, she told him that the guy was her cousin, got up, and left.
“Anyway, if this encourages at least one woman to leave after the first red flag and not just stay because it’s polite, I will be happy,” concluded Taylor.
