She Just Turned 105 And Revealed Her Secret To A Long Life Is Margaritas, So We Found The Simplest And Most Delicious 4-Ingredient Margarita Recipe For You To Try
What age do you hope to live until? For most people, making it to ninety or even ninety-five would be a massive accomplishment. After all, the average life expectancy in the United States is only about seventy-seven years.
So, can you even imagine making it to your one-hundred-and-fifth birthday? Well, one woman from Fresno, California, has proved that it is possible after recently passing this impressive milestone on Friday, November 11.
Once Tilly Beargon was born in 1917, she was welcomed into a very large family. In fact, she was just one out of ten siblings!
And now, at one hundred and five years old, Tilly has since outlived all of her brothers and sisters. She was the seventh born, though, and claims that seven was simply her lucky number when it came to life.
To celebrate the momentous occasion, Tilly’s son also threw her a birthday party where family and friends gathered to celebrate her legacy.
Then, following the event, she revealed her ultimate secret to living a long and happy life.
“Every night when I get ready for bed, I’d have me a drink of margarita first, and boy did I sleep good,” Tilly said in an interview with ABC4.
Doesn’t that sound like a nightly ritual most people would be happy to get behind? If you agree, then we have the simplest, most delicious homemade margarita recipe for you.

Erika Altes, the mastermind behind the TikTok account @WhiskeyAndLaceBlog, recently shared a four-ingredient margarita recipe that will put store-bought margarita mix to shame.
So, get ready to wow your tastebuds and share a toast in Tilly’s birthday honor.
4-Ingredient Margarita
-7-10 Limes, Quartered
-1/2 Cup of Agave
-1 1/2 Oz. of Tequila
-Water
For this margarita recipe, you can say goodbye to the over-processed jugs of pre-made margarita mix and say hello to the natural sweetness and bitterness of limes and agave. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start with the recipe prep.
The only appliance you will need in addition to these ingredients is a blender. And the size of your blender will impact how many limes you need to create the margarita mix.
So, you should begin by slicing about seven limes into quarters and tossing them into your blender. If you have a larger blender, you may need to quarter as many as ten limes. However, be sure not to overfill! You only want your blender to be half full with quartered limes.
Next, once your blender is half filled, you should pour in enough water until the limes are covered. Then, you can add the sweet component– agave.
Erika uses one-half cup of agave to balance out the bitter citrus. But if you prefer to just use sugar, that is totally fine, too. Finally, once the limes, water, and agave are all inside your blender, it is time to pulse. Very carefully.
“Okay, this next step is really important. Only pulse your blender four times. Yep, that’s it,” Erika said.
You do not want to over-pulse the limes, or else your margarita mix will become insanely bitter. So be warned! Then, after you are done pulsing, you should grab a strainer and strain everything into a pitcher. Again, do not press on the limes while they are in the strainer, or else you will risk extra bitterness.
The next step is the last, and arguably best, step. Pick out your tequila of choice– Erika uses Casadores– and add one and a half ounces to a cup filled with ice. Afterward, you can pour your homemade margarita mix on top, give it a little stir, garnish with an extra lime slice, and sip away!
This homemade margarita recipe bypasses all of the processed and added sugars typically found in pre-made mixes and also gives you the opportunity to customize your drink however you like! Plus, whenever you drink this margarita with friends, you can think about Tilly and toast to a long and happy life.
