She Didn’t Cook Her Friend The Same Breakfast She Was Eating Because It Was Expensive, And Her Friend Accused Her Of Being Greedy

This 19-year-old woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend currently live together and try to save money wherever possible. But they both have specific things they’re willing to spend a little extra cash on.

For her, it’s breakfast, as she believes it’s important for her mood and overall well-being. She usually spends some money to buy herself high-protein yogurt, granola, fruits, nuts, and orange juice.

Her boyfriend, on the other hand, doesn’t care as much about breakfast as she does. So, she usually just cooks him other food using whatever was cheap at the grocery store, and he is always content with that.

Recently, though, one of her friends– who is 18-years-old and studies about an hour away from her home– came to visit for the weekend. And at first, everything had been going great.

On Saturday morning, though, she woke up early and had her usual breakfast. Then, her friend woke up a bit later and complimented what she had been eating– saying it looked great.

She just responded with a simple “thanks” and waited for her boyfriend to wake up. Once he did, she wound up offering to cook her friend and her boyfriend a bunch of different breakfast options.

The options included an omelet, oatmeal, homemade bread with butter or dulce de leche, and pancakes with dulce de leche.

She also offered three different beverages– coffee, tea, or milk.

“I thought that was an extremely vast amount of options, more than I normally have at home,” she explained.

“I also had the morning free and did not mind spending some time cooking, so I was willing to make half-elaborate breakfasts.”

Even after offering up all of those options, though, her friend wound up asking if they could just eat what she had been eating. And quite frankly, she admitted to feeling a bit caught off guard.

Nonetheless, she attempted to explain “in the nicest way possible” how she opted to spend a little extra money on her own personal breakfasts since she enjoyed them. But, she claimed she was not really able to afford to feed everyone else the same foods.

At that point, her friend reportedly frowned and said something under her breath– although she cannot remember exactly what her friend said.

Then, her friend just agreed to eat whatever her boyfriend was having. And afterward, she realized that everything felt pretty awkward for a few hours.

Still, as the day went on, she recalled how everyone seemed to put the breakfast debacle behind them and enjoy the rest of the weekend– or so she thought.

The day after her friend left, she wound up receiving a lengthy text from her friend in which she got accused of being greedy for not sharing something as simple as breakfast.

Her friend also claimed that the incident made them question whether or not they should be friends with “someone like that.”

After she confided in her boyfriend about what happened, she admitted that she felt bad and wanted to apologize to her friend, too. But her boyfriend told her not to apologize and claimed that her friend was just acting entitled.

So, she is feeling pretty torn about how to handle the situation.

“I try to share everything. I just have this one thing I really like, and I spend a good portion of my income on it,” she vented. At the same time, though, she realizes that she really upset her friend.

And now, she has been left wondering whether refusing to give her weekend guest the same breakfast she was eating was a jerky thing to do or not.

Can you understand why she did not want to share her breakfast foods? At the same time, did she send a rude message to her weekend guest– who is supposed to be a friend? Do you think she should apologize? If not, what would you do?
