Because of the scene she made, his dad agreed to try seeing a marriage counselor before going through with a divorce.
Unfortunately, they never did make it to therapy, and his dad started having an affair with a woman named Anna during the final months of their marriage. Once his mom found out about Anna, she was enraged, and his parents finally got divorced.
Over time, he’s come to really like Anna, as he feels she’s been more respectful and kind towards him and his girlfriend than his own mom.
“My sister kind of distanced herself from the situation, but I love Anna,” he explained.
“Ever since I first met her all those years ago, she’s been trying her best to be respectful of me and to also bond with me.”
During this past New Year’s Eve, his dad proposed to Anna, and they immediately asked him if he would be the best man at their wedding.
He accepted immediately, and his sister told him he might want to reconsider because of how their mom would feel about the situation.
“I said I completely understand that my mom will always be resentful of my dad and Anna, but I love them, and I want to be part of their wedding,” he recalled.
“My sister sighed and dropped the subject. I thought it was the end of it, but I was wrong.”
When his mom eventually found out about him participating in the wedding, she’s been distraught. She constantly calls and texts him, telling him that she’ll never talk to him again if he goes through with being the best man.
His mom has also told him that he’s horrible for making her “relive the trauma” she has from losing her husband to Anna.
