As the school year wraps up, the buzz and excitement surrounding the upcoming summer has reached its peak among the kids.

To make sure that this summer isn’t a letdown, you’ll definitely want to have numerous activities planned.

Here are ten fun summer ideas you can do with your kids to help them burn off some energy and stay entertained.

Have A Picnic

Head to your local playground or park to have a picnic! Spread out a blanket on the grass, bring all of your child’s favorite foods, and relax under the cool shade of a tree.

Water Balloon Baseball

You can play this game right in your backyard. Gather a group of friends, or just keep the activity between you and your kids. Fill up some water balloons and pitch them one at a time to your kid up at bat.

Visit Your Local Library

Aside from providing books, libraries offer a host of events designed for children. For example, kids can play educational computer games, attend workshops for art and music, or watch puppet shows.

Feed The Ducks

If there is a pond or lake in your area where ducks often frequent, take your kids to feed them. Bring along scraps of bread or birdseed. They’ll have loads of fun tossing the food to the ducks.

Go Berry Picking

Summertime is when the berries come out. Find a wild berry bush or a farm that lets you pick your own berries for a small fee. You’ll be able to indulge in fresh fruit all summer long!

Build A Fort

Turn your home into a place found only in your child’s imagination by creating a giant blanket fort. Assemble some tables and chairs and drape blankets and sheets over top.

Sit underneath the fort and enjoy a snack.

Visit An Amusement Park

Any kid will surely have a blast riding kid-friendly rollercoasters. Bonus points if there’s a water park you can cool off at.

Go To The Farmer’s Market

A farmer’s market is much more interesting than your weekly trip to the grocery store. Your child will be exposed to a wider variety of foods, and you can turn it into a regular outing!

Plant A Garden

Show your kids how to plant a garden. Let them bury seeds into the dirt and instruct them on how much water certain flowers and plants need to grow.

As the weeks wear on, they can observe the garden’s growth.

Bean Bag Toss

Instead of just buying the game from the store, have your kids help you make a bean bag toss. Sew fabric together and insert dried beans inside them.

Then, toss them around outside into buckets.
