“It’s not something I aim to bring up often, but every once in a while, the story will come up in conversation,” she said.
The other night while playing a card game they used to play freshman year of high school with another friend, she brought up how she used to hate Kate for making fun of her once again.
She laughed it off with their other friend, but Kate became very uncomfortable. Kate reminded her that she asked her not to bring up their history like that, and she brushed her off.
Although she doesn’t want to start arguments with Kate, she doesn’t want to worry about walking on eggshells to avoid occasionally bringing up their past.
“I understand that maybe she was insecure at the time, and she feels guilty, but it doesn’t change the fact that it happened to me, too,” she explained.
“I just don’t think I should have to worry about it coming up every once in a while.”
After the way Kate reacted, she’s wondering if she should be trying harder not to bring up their past.
Should she try harder, or should she be allowed to bring up her past with Kate as often as she wants?
